I have bought my first of two subs
(only bought the one as iv run out of money)

I have a twin MDF sub box and i have bought a 1200watt JBL GTO-1202D

I have payed 38 pound including delivery.

What do you think?

Good sub?
Good price?

And what kind of amp do i need to run 2 of these babys?

hi mate, the subs you have chosen are about 400-500 watts rms each.
the best amp i could recomend for them is theloudest.com 2000w amp.(1000rms) should match a treat.
If youve never heard one of them, youll be amazed

im not buying 6x9 and if im amping the speakers i will use a separate amp

thanks mate that was a little heplfull, erm... the first amp you showed me was the one i was looking at... are you sures its enough to power 2 1200watts subs tho?? seems abit cheap to be able to do that

hi mate, ignore the amps people have posted as they won't get the best out of your subs.

The most important thing you need to look for is ohms- it looks like your sub is wired in dual coil 2-ohm. Ideally you want to try and find a 2 channel amp with 1-ohm from each channel, rated at 300w RMS (from each channel). By the way, if you have 2 subs sharing one box, it will sound sh*t until you get the other one in the other side.

Right, First of all let me know how much you are wanting to spend on your amplifier.

I presume you want to run 2 JBL GTO-1202D's? These Subwoofers have dual voicecoils and are Dual 2 ohm, So one speaker can be wired to show a 1 ohm or 4 ohm load.

As you have 2, You can wire them to show a 2 or 8 ohm load.

So you need an amp that puts out around 500w RMS @ 2 ohm. I recomend a monoblock, 1 channel amp.

As said, Give me a budget and I'll hav a look, No good me recomending a Nioce DLS ultimate thats out of your price range! Avoid theloudest.com,

thats a 1000wRMS into 1.5-4 ohms @ 11-14.5 volts

i scored 141.9dB with it and a pair of infinity 12's

as what crazy clio said you have to look at the ohm rating of an amp and match it to the subs / sub wiring

find a mono amp that does 500w RMS @ 2 ohm (RMS is the figure to look at on both amps and subs not the max figure plus most cheaper makes are full of bullsit power figures).

personally i'd stick to just one 12" sub in a clio and spend the rest of the money on a decent set of front components (not chavvy 6x9's). you can buy a 4 channel amp that allows it to be run in 3 channel mode 2 channels bridged to power the sub and 2 for the front components.

No point having 2 subs and the front speakers running off the headunit,


Also invest in some sound deadening as you will need to cover the boot floor, boot lid and rear 1/4's in the stuff

bargain! I've had had that JL off you but just bought a SPL dynamics 1200s
