finally drove a 172 cup

as it's my birthday my mate let me drive his 172 cup.

wow.

i drive a 1.2 and this was amazing. pick up was amazing, sounds meaty and handles like a beast. the clutch was a bit strange compared to my 1.2 but i'm sure i would get used to it.

i was considering an ibiza for my next car, but i think i may go for a 172 or a 197. they are amazing.

they're lovely. i'd have to get used to it obviously. the fastest thing i'd driven before this was my other mate's mk1 rsi, but i bet that would be slow comapred to this.

i drove my 1.2 home after the 172, felt like i was walking home.

I went from a 1.4 206 to my 172. Didn't really notice the power in the test drive, but once you learn the ins and outs of the car and its ability, you realise they are fast for what they are!!

i wish! i've got 2 years of finance left on mine yet, unless i pay off half of it then i can give it back to renault, get a 5k loan out and go and buy one.....

It is funny how your perceptions of fast change. I had a little 1.2 8v with a few bits and it was really nippy....until I was behind a std VTR and it pasted me lol. I wouldn't even have to try now (not exactly std but you get the idea)

I too have just made the conversion from a 1.2 punto to a 182. The difference is awesome when you get to know your car, and im still learning mine. lol

ex had a 1.2 extreme, and i thought it was nippy for effectively a 1.1


then i got my cup.... loooovveeeddd it. Whole new thing to be honest. When i got bored with the cup, i used to drive her 1.2 for a week to work and back and then get in my cup at the weekend.... soon made you fall in love with it again.

Also good when you drive 18tonne trucks for a week and get into the cup at the weekend.... feels like a low down supercar. lol... its not i know... but some people think it is
