I'd say!! 3 weeks of work?? My God, Were they in a poor state before you started?

Mine will need doing next spring before the Summer meets again but I think I'll leave it to a Pro!!

cost for 5 wheels : various grades of sandpaper- £5
primer,colour,laquer- £35

sanding and dremeling took about 3 1/2 hours
spraying took about 3 hours all together had to leave 10 mins between each coat and 24 hours between each stage of paint. I did it in the evening when i had spare time

Method :

1. Using dremel hand rotary tool- scrape off any corrosion
2. using p240 sand down curb marks
3. Fill curbing with metal filler
4. when dried sand down metal filler and whole alloy with p240
5. then sand down with p400
6.repeat for p800
7. finish with p1000
8. wash wheel with pressure washer to get rid of dirt
9. leave to dry
9. spray mists of primer (not thick layer)
10. leave 15 mins between each coat (approx 4-5 coats)
11. Leave 24 hours
12. Spray colour in mists ( build up 4-5 layers again 15 mins between coats)
13. sand down coats if any are done badly and redo coats
14. when happy with finish leave 24 hours
15. spray 4-5 laquer coats (leave 15 between coats again)
16. leave overnight to properly dry
17. Finished :D

Ehh??.. i was talking to Renaultboy u div.

coz in the pictures the tyres are the same color as the rims itself.

I've gotta say it , but the finish looks crap and it looks like you've sprayed the tyres like Haz says . 3 weeks to get that result

Yup 3 weeks is an awfully long time..

I did mine own wheels, took 2 days! lmao!

And i didn't spray my tyres!! i used masking tape to cover the tyres..

easy enough to get the paint off the tyres, doesnt really matter. Looks good though mate, any pics of them on the car?

Well yeah there is a solution, but the solution is to a problem that shouldn't of existed in the first place!

tyres were on the wheels when i bought them, were all bald and i didnt need them anyway so i just left them on the wheels when i sprayed them. ordered new tyres for them anyway

as shown by this quote it didnt take me 3 weeks to do all 5 wheels but 3 weeks was the overall time it took as i was busy and could only do a bit each week

and as for you mrbillyUk how can you say the finish is crap..its the photo thats crap.

Good effort for doing it,I wouldn't have the patience for it.

Are you selling the wheels on then, or keeping them for your car?

I stand corrected . It's just the crap photo that gives the impression the finish is crap . A job well done then ;)
