id doubt it would ruin you atall, its got an LPG conversion fitted so you could utilize that for a majority of your road usage.
I run a 4.7 V8 Jeep as my daily, and yes its thirsty but its far from horrendous atall, its actually surprisingly good once on the motorway and you are plodding along with a little throttle.
that BMW actually looks pretty smart for the price tag.

From what I understand the E38 shares a lot of parts from the E39 (5 series)
The engine isn't specific to the 7 series, so it won't have any specific prices.
Electrics can sometimes be an issue and that can be expensive to fix, but I don't think it's an inherently common problem.
Only the 750i is a true potential money chewer as far as I'm aware.

I can never work out why people have to start saying stuff like a car does 40mpg, when it uses a gallon of fuel to go 18-20 miles, that is still 18-20mpg, just cause its half the price doesnt mean its getting more MPG.
Sorry, rant over, I realise you mean "costs equivalent to 40mpg" but its just a pet hate of mine.

No taste. I went for the more sensible option and bought an 18yr old jap import.
LPG isn't equivalent to double the "standard" mpg either.
You normally get the equivalent of about 70% on top of the normal mpg.
My Saxo does 40-45mpg on petrol, but I generally only see 35-38mpg on LPG, I believe this is because the car produces slightly less power when on LPG. It's also worth remembering that you need petrol to get the engine warm enough to run on LPG, this means running it on normal fuel through the cold map, for at least the first few miles of your journey. Might not sound like much, but on something like a 750i it wouldn't be negligible.

Depends on the system, if you can advance the timing when on LPG its possible to get back a lot nearer to normal economy, it wants a lot more timing than normal petrol to work properly.
