Finished My Dials!!

  Clio 1.4 16v
Hi all, been fiddling with my dials for the last few days, here are a few picciews of the end results.

I saw on here that a few people mentioned that you cant see the needles with blue LED's so I sanded down the red paint and coated them in white so they show up nicely. Sorry bout the crappy pics, my camera macro mode is poo

Comments welcome

looks good mate, how did u do it all, any progress pics?

  Clio 1.4 16v
Takes a lot of concentration and patience, anything less than a mildly steady hand and don't even bother. I'm so glad I quit smoking or I would have shaken far too much.

I've gotta take it apart tomorrow again to put the Petrl needle back in the right place, its a bit off, can take some pics then if you like?

what colour will the little computer window text be in the daylight when the lights aren't on?

B

Brown.

i tried this once when it came to doin the trip comp leds, when i turned the key the burnt out : (

Yeh, the needle was put on wrong, will be corrected tomorrow.

I'm thinkin of offering a service for anybody who wants this doing for them, would anybody be interested??

also i wonder different colours would like?
white, red etc?

is it possible to keep the needles orange and the dials blue?

Fitting white Dials, no problems, you would have to source them though

You can keep the needles orange yes, but they don't show up very well, i'd be happy to fit any colour you want, although white and blue look the best.

As a guide to price, if you were to bring the car to me and help take the dash off, I will gladly to it for £40 including parts.

As regards a posting service, it would mean you would be without your dials for about 3 days but I could do it and post them back no problems, not too sure on price for that though, probably the same as above, plus postage I should imagine

So you would want -
Dial lights replacing
White dials
Two switch lights replacing

Not very far mate, just down the A50, bout 45 mins max

yeh thats it, ill try and find some white dials, harder than i thought, as mine is 2004 its got a different dial layout, which thinking now is its different to your, ill find a pic and post up in a minute.

how much are we looking for you to do that? minus the dials, ill sort them myself if i can.

  Clio 1.4 16v
Would you be bringing the car to me?
And getting the white dials?

If so then i'd do everything for £60 including take your dash out, replace lights and dials, swap switch LED's and put your dash back in, including all the LED's as well.

Any good to you?

ill send you a pm to let you know how it goes, and then sort something out with you!
and ill find out what colour i want!!

what LED's do you use?
just thought i might be able to 'aquire' some from work!

The best i've found to use are PLCC-2 surface mount LED's, only specialist suppliers do them i think.

No probs, drop me a PM when your ready

what power do they run off etc, if you know that is!

im an apprentice at a big aerospace company, and i got on well with one of the electricians, so might be able to get them myself!!

  Clio 1.4 16v
Err, well the nominal voltage is 3.5v IIRC

but the dash has resistors built in, so you heve to desolder the old ones, and replace with the new ones, so they have to be the same size
