First belt change

Just spoke to a garage selling a 172 cup with 59k on it and had no belts changed. He said that they are not due till 72k is this correct?

Dont know where i got 40k from i knew it was 72k really,its probably over 5 years old though so needs doing.

I think most people go for 60k to be safe though.

But remember, even if it hasnt done 60k and its over 5 years old the belt will have started to perish anyway so needs changing.

timing belt is 72k or 5 years if i recall correctly. Its all listed in the service book. 36k aux. There are no listed services at 40k

it will need doing, its over the 5yrs now.
I had service , cam and aux done last week. Cost £575 - so you would be lookin at spendin roughly that straight away on the cup.

if you do get it id highly recommend birchdown for your belt change, i had mine done this morning, really friendly guys and i got to cruise round in the birchdown van whilst i was waiting :)

I got the belt, aux, tensioners, water pump and coolant change for 360 all in, winner :D
