First post - just bought a clio mk2 ph2 1.4

Car  Clio mk2 1.4 ph3
Hi all thought I would join the forum after just purchasing a 54reg clio today. Hopefully in the future I will get chance to improve and modify it having viewed many awesome looking cars on here so far. From what i've seen a decent set of 16" alloys. coilovers and a sport grille really seem to transform the looks of the car so I wreckon those will be top on the list :)
Will probably post a pic of the car as standard soon :)

thanks mate, I've read loads of posts so far, mainly in the projects area, looking for some inspiration :) I will shortly post some pics of the car if i can work out how to do it. It is a very dark green colour 54 reg 1.4 with only 28,000 miles on the clock in pretty good condition all round.

Also can anyone help with this question... If i buy some 16" alloys what tyre size do you recommend? cheers

thanks :) ahh ok i thought ph3 was the ones with the number plate in the bumper? yeah i have no clue what the colour is or how to find out lol

update: smoked side repeaters ordered and found out my car is apparantly Nordic Green 903 colour otherwise referred to as green abysse

So first update in a while. now fitted with a pioneer headunit and had the sunroof resealed as this was leaking slightly. Also had the car checked over at my local regular garage and aside from slightly seized brakes everything was spot on. So now the car is fully functional and no longer leaking hopefully some progress can be made towards mods :) if anyone in or around south yorkshire / sheffield that has ever colour coded their clio fancies giving me a hand or advice this would be awesome! almost forgot.. i have also joined the forum properly so im counting that as an upgrade :P

Update on the project, had my old sub wired up, had to fix the heater/blower motor and resistor as this stopped working and ordered some chrome indicator bulbs, new rear numberplate light as the original is slightly dull looking and an rs upper front grille :) pics to follow when these are fitted.

Hi mattyd90
I'm also having trouble with my heater/blower motor and resistor may I ask how you sort this out. What did you have to do to fix it? Parts price...etc. I have the Clio mk2 ph2 1.4. My heater and AC doesn't work at all.
Many thanks in advance.

hey, i took mine to an auto electrician and turns out my motor needed replacing and in total with vat and labour ended up costing £170. probably could do it cheaper yourself i wreckon parts from a scrapyard would cost about £30 but i have no clue about that kind of thing. try get a decent quote though a couple of places quoted me around 400 saying it was an annoying job to do that takes ages and it would be both the resistor and motor but this isnt necessarily the case.

Thanks mate. I got quoted about the same. Good to see there is a possible better deal. I'll keep looking. take care

So a quick update on whats happened so far... Fitted smoked side repeaters as the car previously had one orange and 1 clear repeater

Then fitted the chrome indicator bulbs which look a lot better

sorry the pictures aren't the right way round not sure how to change them as they aren't this way on my laptop :S

Then fitted the rs front grille which looks far better than the original one

Next up i removed the rear wheels and spray painted the rear drums with black high temperature paint just to try and smarten them up a little as they had gone a slightly rusty brown colour.

next up plans are to try to colour code the door strips and exterior handles and source a set of decent alloys, hopefully some turinis or 182 anthracite cup alloys. I'll hopefully also improve at uploading pictures too :)

posted this in the wanted section but i'll add it in here too...
looking to buy a coilover suspension kit, I believe I require 58mm bolt spacing.
can anyone recommend a decent make/type and suggest how much i'm going to be looking at paying for both new/2nd hand
thanks

Update: So i've started the colour coding process on the exterior door mouldings/strips and bullets and the exterior door handles
here is the first layer of plastic filler primer - terrible colour I know.

left that to dry then applied a layer of standard plastic primer in a better colour, next step will be to sand it down smooth ready for the first layer of paint

I have also purchased some new wheels - lenso bsx on 165/50/15s for stretch :) took some pics of them before i cleaned them unfortunately but they have cleaned up nice.
Can't put them onto the car until i get some coilovers on first though as the amount of arch gap is literally ridiculous without and the type of alloy they are only suits a lowered car. Heres a pic of the arch gap to show what I mean :)

next update will probably be on how the colour coding has gone and how likely getting some coilovers and spacers is looking :)
thanks for reading

thanks :) hopefully get the colour coding done soon, then get coilovers and wheels and a 172 bumper on so some more significant progress can be made!

they are yes :) i believe he has now sold his car and is getting a fiesta st which should be nice! can you tell by the dice dust caps? ;)

Very nice.. and no just by tyre make/size haha, hope it all goes well matey!

Haha yeah, they look daft cos they're right small at the mo car needs mad lows to pull them off! Is that your car on your pic? Thanks by the way

Looks good mate! Do you mind me asking what coilovers you have and how low it is? :)

TA Technix, and lowest it will go on back, and just literally eye leveled the front to match. It's not very low at all, need to sort the back out..

Looks good and right on your pic though in my opinion! How much did they cost you? What is the ride and handling like?

sanded the primer and applied the first layer of paint :) ...

the paint looks darker on the pictures but seems a decent match :) sanding with a higher grade of sandpaper and further layers + lacquer still to do

Just plastic filler primer from halfords, in fairness I think i still could have sanded them a little more in the priming stage but they aren't too bad for first ever stuff sprayed! Not sure I will be able to do a 172 rear bumper though might get it done professionally

I would get a bumper done pro, finish across a large area may be abit shabby, unless you can find one in your colour then it's all good

What colour code do you have?

they didn't make sports in my colour, its 903 paint code. yeah I'll probs get it done professionally not sure how much just a rear bumper would cost to do though, makes a real difference to the look of the car though so its a priority at the mo

Cheers mate! Not much to be fair I think I got them down to 200ish brand new. Ride and handling is fine, not much difference to be fair! Get my approval. :)

i have just done a sport bumper to match my clio and the finish is nowhere near as good as what you would get professionally, if you have the money I would get it done professionally

yeah im thinking do the small parts myself as i am doing so far then get a sport rear bumper done properly :) thats next on the list after getting some coilovers

Applied final coat of paint to the parts today just waiting for them to
dry now before applying the lacquer

finished today and now drying hopefully i'll get chance to put them on the car either tomorrow or friday :)

I'm going to colour code mine soon, was wondering if you sourced new plastics whilst your existing plastics were still on the car or did you use the ones on your car? Only asking die to the shitty weather we're having at the moment and don't want rain getting inside the door!

i bought new plastics from a scrapyard mate took all the parts i wanted from an almost complete car, takes a while to do the whole process bearing in mind you have to sand and prepare the plastic then primer then apply the basecoats then lacquer too if u want, leaving time to dry inbetween each stage so you can flat it back. due to work and finding spare time my parts have been off the car for bout 2 weeks now i think so its alot easier getting other parts if you're going to try do it yourself.
I also bought new parts incase it didnt go well, so atleast if it went badly my original parts were still ok
