Fitting 172 cup brake system on a 182.

  Audi A5
Anyone done this?

is it worth it?

how much weight did you loose?

what parts need replacing?

Is it a big job?

Cheers bobby

Only worth it if you're planning to strip the loom/race it tbh.

Lines and master cylinder are all that need replaced.

Ash, I'm assuming you have removed the ABS on yours then buddy?

easy enough task, parts easy to source for anything that needs to be changed over?
and mainly, other than the benefits of no ABS on a track car, but was there much of a weight saving to be had from doing this?

Also I've read on here before that the stopping force in the higher speeds are better, would you say this is true?

Yes Kelv, one of the best things I did. It transformed the braking on my car :)

Easy to source everything as said above just need 172 cup engine loom, master cylinder, rear load valve/bias valve and then you need to make some brake lines.

The most difficult bit is swapping the master cylinder and brake lines with the engine in place.

Did you swap the gearbox for a "speed-sensor'd" one? As the speedo gets the speed signal from the ABS system.

Also a good idea to fit the 172 cup engine loom as it then gets rid of all the ABS wiring, easy to fit :)
Ash, on that note, I bought a Cup loom after you mentioned it a while ago. Does the Cup blower then work as surely the Cup loom removes all of the aircon and Climate plugs?
