Fitting 197 steering wheel to a 172 with cruise control.

You need the cruise loom from a 172 wheel (or just butcher yours?) and the loom from a 197 wheel (should come with it, I think it's in 2 parts)

Once you have both it's just a case of soldering the 172 connector to the wires from the 197's loom, it was 2 years ago now but I remember it was really easy to do anyway.

Yep, it wears off after a while but ime is never ideal.

Can you not just introduce a bit more clearance by filing off whatever it catches on?

Just done my 197 wheel. Surprisingly easy really. Needs a washer ad it rubs slightly.
