fitting a splitter with self tapping screws

Car  MK2 PH2 & E46 330
i bought self tapping screws today to fit a laguna splitter to my rt.

do i need to drill pilot holes? im worried about screwing them in and cracking the bumper..

also, i need to cut the ends off. should i just use a stanley and sand down so its smooth?

Always drill pilot holes. It may be worth drilling the holes in the splitter slightly bigger just to ensure it doesn't crack.

A friend of mine fitted a Laguna splitter a few years ago and used 2p's with a hole drilled through as washers, worked a treat.

What do you mean by 'cut the heads off'? If you mean the screws, don't bother as you won't be able to see them.

would have thought even using 2p pieces, this was stil more expensive than buying some washers lol

when i say cut the ends off, i mean the rubber on the splitter where its too long. rather than cutting it in the middle.

im lost.

cutting a spplitter in the middle will reduce the width, wont do anything to the length it sticks out in your arch, will just make it not fit at all.

nevermind, i just want to know if cutting the excess with a stanley at either end is fine
