Fitting aftermarket steering wheel

  Black 182
Ive got the orignal wheel off and everythings disconnected but now i have the 4 wires left... 3 dont fit the hole in the OMP boss.

How do you fit the wires through the boss? Or do the airbag wires have to be chopped off?

Im not bothered about an airbag dash light if it makes any difference.

Cruise goes through first, then the airbag wires (no chopping needed, but you will have to clip in the retaining part), then the horn.

Some people seem to have real trouble with the OMP boss, but I've had 2 now and never had a problem. It's tight but they fit.

After taking the airbag clips off the airbag did you clip the clip back together? if so they wont fit, undo it then they will fit - it is tight but they do go.

De-assemble the boss Will, then file out the back section a little just to allow them a little more grace to fit, once tucked through, reassemble the boss and locate onto the splines.
you got those subframes fitted yet? ;)

Well you could still fit resistors to the airbag wires, but you would need a new slip ring if you ever wanted to go back to standard. Unless you soldered the connectors back on.

Its going to be beyond returnable to standard so im not bothered haha.

And tomorrow Kelv! Full front end strip, bucket in and get this wheel sorted. Should look totally different with any luck!

If the plugs have been cut off and its just the ribbon wire thats left, how do you connect a resistor?

I cut mine off but i want the lights gone so if you could help me i'd be very greatful!

Thanks (sorry for hijack)

Is it ribbon? I thought it was 2 wires in rubber 'casing'. In which case, strip back and solder the resistor on. Bit of heat shrink to stop it shorting.

Edit, found a clear picture, looks like 2 wires to me:

Thats exactly what i have. The 2 yellow ribbon clips, the horn wire and a black connector that i cant remember what its for.. Probably cruise control aswell.

Will, I assume you are trying the feed the airbag plugs through with the locking tab in place, if you unclip them like in the picture above then they do gain a bit more space to fit through. The only plug I had to file out the boss for was the square black plug that you will have for the cruise control buttons.

Ive got the 2 wires, no plugs and no black rubbee casing stuff on them so its just the copper wire and the white plastic casing stuff.

Sorry, ive not tried connecting any resistors. Is it a case of soldering a resistor onto the bare wire and thats it or what?

Thanks for the info btw!

Yeh, just solder onto the wire. Then tape up to stop it shorting, or for a neater finish put some heat shrink on before soldering.
