Fitting an MP3 Head Unit

Evening all.

Been away a while but i am back on the scene. Looking at fitting an MP3 unit to both cars which is easy enough.
However am i right in thinking that you lose the head unit display on the dash and the use of the steering column controls?.

Also any decent units you can suggest?. Looking at spending about £150 per car.

Yeah you will loose the info on the dash, Unless you fork out for adapters.
