Fitting Engine Mounts

Car  ph1 Clio 172
Hi everyone

I have a phase 1 172, its standard apart from being lowered on springs (which I will be changing soon) and has started making a knocking on the front end, which has got progressively worse.

So everyone has told me its the engine mounts, because they are notorious for being weak.

How hard is it to fit them yourself and are there any tips/tricks for fitting them?

Cheers

loosen the 4 16mm bolts on the drivers side top engine mount.

Get a bar and using force pull the engine hard to the front of the car! It should move about 12mm (the underside of the mount should move with it)

Re tighten the 4 bolts

If that fails then replace the dog bone mount! But try the above first! Its free!

Are you getting the uprated ktec ones?

If so get ready for more interior noises lol! Everything vibrates in my car now.

Ha ha no, my mate had the group n ones on his 106 gti, and they were just to savage for me like.

I got the standard ones and the poly dogbone.

there's your problem i think.. The poly dogbone is stiffer so all the movement-stress will pass onto the other remaining mounts. Not too much trouble but be prepared to change these mounts more often. Maybe you even broke one of the top ones.
