Fitting front discs

I've just had my wheels off this morning and had a look at my brakes and it looks as though I'll need new discs as well as pads.

I've found the pad fitting guide on the forum, but can anyone give me some tips for changing the front discs.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi mate, welcome to CS.

Only done it once so this is from memory:

- Remove the 2 big caliper screws that are behind the caliper (not the ones to remove the pads.) . Think they are 17mm and a real effort to move.

- Make sure you support the caliper once its off via string to the coil or bucket etc... so not to damage the hose.

- Then your left with the disk. Remove the 4 torx screws and just ease it off. Usually with a hammer but tapping evenly round the disc.

Think thats it. You'll know what i mean when you have a look.

Make sure you have the right tools though as i had to put everything back together to drive to halfords and buy bigger torx lol...

Sounds pretty straightforward. When looking at it this morning it looked a reasonable job, but wasn't sure if I would have to touch the bearings etc.

Yeah mate... the priciple is straight forward. lol.

The difficulty is in the effort required to move these 17mm screws... i almost pulled the car off the jack trying to do it. lol

Also, the disk might need a can of woops ass to get it off... would recommend some copper grease on the back for next time.

It's very easy to do. Just make sure you have the correct size of Torx ratchet (off the top of my head I think it's a 40mm) and you're laughing.

NO NO NO NO NO!!

remove the torx screws when the calipers are STILL ON (get your mate to stand on the pedal MUCH EASIER)

then remove the caliper and smack the disc off with a hammer

If your on your own though, cant you just leave it in gear ?

nope 1 wheel still spins
