Fitting Harnesses in a 182

  Caterham/172/XC90/RX7

Hi

Ive got a 182 cup with Recaros, im wanting to fit a harness for the drivers side and am wanting to know the best mounting/fixing points for them?

Any helps much Appreciated!

Thanks

Simon

Take out the isofix bar in the back and bolt the rear harness mount in with one of the bolts holding it in place. The sill side of the seat use the lower seatbelt mount point but as for the pretentioner side id have to remove the plastic trim and see if there is somewhere you can use to bolt to the seatbase.

Thanks for that!

The recaros dont have a plastic cover over the pretensioner, just a leather sleeve so ill have a peak behind there this aft to see about fixing points on that side.

Anyone have some Harness recomendations?? I want a 3 or 4 Point FIA approved one with a proper buckle, not the road legal plastic covered ones, in black, im liking the look of the Scroth ones but theyre a bit pricey and the shoulder belts dont look like they can reach to the isofix bar!!

The length might be designed with a rollcage crossbar in mind, some of the FIA approved harnesses will be like that. Have a look on demontweeks or similar will give you an idea of whats about and rough idea on prices. Then have a chat with y0z2a he may be able to source them cheaper.

3 point sabelt/luke will cost about 60 for good ones.

you will find a problem on the inside belt mount I think.

You might need to go to another sub-frame that you could attach a harness to.

Thinking about it if the standard seatbase is no good you could probably have an L shaped bracket made up. Fit this between the subframe and the floor, A hole to bolt the inner harness and one for the stud on the standard seatframe to go through, then a spacer washer on each of the other studs. Once the seat is in the car there is loads of thread left on these studs where you wind the nuts on from the outside of the car.

Thanks for the Info chaps.

A lot of the ones in tweeks look to be for caged fitments and welded ancor points/hoops.

Ill have a look at the inside mounting point this aft around the pretensioner area and report back!

Thanks

Simon
