The 182 is currently in renotech Chelmsford for a steering issue, they have phoned to say the clutch is slipping, not that I've noticed.

just been looking at the guide in the guide section, seems a lot of work. is it a real difficult job to do?
the garage has quoted me 550 to fit a new clutch

Not difficult no ,if you know what you are doing. The main cost is labour which is circa 7 hours iirc.

Get a second opinion if you have not noticed it.

If you don't need the car as a daily, and can take your time, there is no reason why you can't do it by following a guide.
You'll need a decent socket/tool set, as doing it without just makes everything ten times harder.

I did my clutch on my 1.2, having previously literally done nothing on the car. I even had to buy a socket set as I didn't have one!
I just followed a guide someone sent me, methodically going along with taking pictures of every step I did and labeling parts etc. Took a lot longer than others may have done it, but I found it really satisfying having done it myself, not to mention cheaper, and if I did it again, could do it in half the time!

i have every tool you could ever need so no problems there.

i do do bits to cars, brake pads all rounds, disks all round, oil change, brake fluid change. done a few otther bits so i have a general idea.

once the wifes cars up and running i could use her and leave mine in the garage for a week etc...

ok well something on my todo list when it becomes a problem
