Five a side football....

....is bloody difficult.

I went over to Basingstoke Power League last night to take a few shots for my mate's team. Having never been there before, I expected it to be indoor, plenty of bright gym lighting etc...

Couldn't have been more wrong. Was confronted with a flood-lit pitch surrounded in a cage, which ruled the flash out.

I have never more felt the need for faster glass!

All shot in manual with a Nikon D40 and 55-200mm lens, straight off the camera with a few crops.

Shooting at F/5.6 and 1/20 sec isn't easy I found out. Sorry about the grainyness, was at ISO 1600.

Pics don't look bad at all mate, though they are very dark.

Aww I miss Five a Side since doing my knee ligaments/cartilage in Only missed a week and got a lot more to miss yet!

Surprised they came out that dark... our pitch is lit up like f**k!

I'm the same, but missing my second week, so going down with the camera instead.

Ours has more light than the indoor one too.

They didn't look too dark on my moniter at home, just got in work and christ they're hard to see lol.

You should be ok with plenty of light mate.

Canon 450D + Kit Lens + Tamron 70-300. Probably going to borrow my mates 50mm f1.8 though, having just sold mine :dapprove:

Nice shot Pete! Yeah it is very difficult, still had fun messing around in manual though, really is rewarding when a shot comes out well. Wish I still had photoshop to up the levels a little bit though.

Think I'm going to try out some Sunday League stuff this weekend to see how different it is in the daytime (hangover and weather dependant)
