Fog Light Mod

  Westy. MX5
As I have had the front bumper removed for other work I decided to change to the way the foglights were screwed in so they can be removed from the front.
In future to renew the foglight unit as a whole or change a bulb the whole front bumper does not have to be renewed, all that has to be removed is the black foglight surround that is wedged into the front bumper.
It's not worth the hassle of removing the front bumper just for this mod but if you have to remove it for some other work then 20mins work will make foglight maintainance a doddle.

1. With the bumper removed unplug the connector & unscrew the foglights.
2. Pull off the captive nuts and reverse them in the recess.
3. Hold the foglight unit in front of the bumper and you will see which parts of the foglight mountings need to be cut away. I used a junior hacksaw and found it easy to cut the plastic mountings away bit by bit until the foglight dropped back into the recess with the screw holes aligned with the captive nuts.

The 2 photos show the trimmed black plastic tabs now in front off the bumper and you can now fit the screws and the foglight surround.

You can usually take them out without taking the bumper off anyway my friend.

Not that easily, lots of Cliosport members have trouble removing them insitu especially when they are fitted with Torx screws. Nevertheless the guide should help someone.

Na, took me 10mins to trim the foglight mounts. As I said at the start it's only worth doing if the bumper has to come off for something else.
