Ford Fair 2013

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
Chip, we have spoken of it, but it just doesn't ring any bells.
i know of the yellow one you had, unless you are referring to that?

Doug's escort is a lovely car, as is Doug a diamond person aswell, very knowledgable and super friendly.
last i knew, he had the yellow one aswell.

Ah gotcha, tbh I never really observed the plate on it, but always knew Doug as L8 ECU from many moons ago, that name just seemed to stick forever more.

Weren't they quoted at doing 60 in under six seconds ? no stock 172 is that fast. I'm not sure what the Escort doe a ton in though.

First gear the escort is quicker just cause you can dump the clutch off the line, so that massively skews the 0-60 figure, but once moving (ie a trackday for example) there is nothing much in it between a standard one and a 172.

Ah OK, I wasn't sure - yep they must be slow in standard form, I guess the four wheel drive doesn't help.

Indeed, the extra losses from the 4wd and the fact they are about 400kg heavier than a 172 make for little difference between the two.

Thing is though of course, adding an extra 150bhp on the (early) escort is totally trivial, and then everything changes!

Cheers, I've always wanted one - but by the time I get one they'll be about £85K for a decent one!
It's not really viable where I live right now, it would be gone in five minutes

Escorts dont seem to be going up in value at the moment, which I would have expected them to by now, but yes im sure longer term they will, as every other RS model has!

Not sure the fwd ones will though (ie the focus) as the older rs turbo ones never matched the RWD/4wd cossies
