Does anyone know what the difference is internally between a Formula Renault F4R 7** engine and the F4R 7** engines found in the road going clio 1*2?

heads mainly

the original mk2 cup cars had the phs1 lumps (the most powerful IMO) big exhaust ports etc

on the later 736/738 they moved to the turbo casting with the smaller exhaust ports, i guess maybe for emissions/cost saving

there is talk of the cranks being different also, but nothing worth worrying about

So a formula renault engine is basically the same spec as a the UK cup car engines apart from the dry sump?

ish, there are moddifications internally

oil pump and drive etc, sump, oil squirters, plus a few other bits, we stuck one in a clio and it did great power :D (quite a bit of work to convert it back to road spec from memory)
