from a 206 GTi 2 a 182

HI peeps,

ive just joined the forum, sent off my membership as im now a proud owner of a racing blue with strips 182.

but i have a query.

i have done now 650 miles run in and today put my foot down to 6k, and well not that impressed with result in performance.

i know that its only done 650 miles, but will the performance increase much.

my 206 gti was running 160bhp, and i know on paper the 182 is faster, but my 206 seems to pull faster and harder.

the 182 seems still tight as you can feel it trying to rev hard,

WILL MY 182 PERFORM BETTER. or have i made the wrong choice.

cheers for your feedback

Yeh i would imagine it will continue to loosen up for some time yet, just have to give it a little while :)

I know what you mean but when you catch it right with some decent gear changes you absolutely fly.

Give it a bit more time

My old 172 didnt start to really losen up until 20k.

My 182 has now covered 4200 miles in 2 months and is starting to losen up nicely. I dont suppose the 0 - 60 sprints and short time on track did that any harm though.

Mine went like f**k from day one !!! (but I hammered it from 10 miles or so)

went a bit more from 1k onwards ... but not much.

Try putting your foot down harder and take it to the redline!

Dont worry, it will loosen up with the miles. My CUP goes like fcuk now and its only got 8500 miles so it should get even better hopefully.

Most people that get into mine say that it pulls hard and feels fast, but these are mostly my mates that dont know much about cars and generally drive around in 1.2 corsas etc.

Mates that are in the know generally comment on how quiet the car is and ive had quite a few of them say that with an exhaust and IK the car will feel as fast as it actually is...i often boot it and then look down at the speedo to find im doing naughty speeds. Basically they are quick, they just dont feel that fast....same goes for my brothers cooper S although his standard exhaust has a noticably sportier note than my 182 and it also pops and gargles!
