front bearing nut

Car  Clio 172 Cup
hi guys im having problems getting my bearing nut off F/NS its well over 200 flb of torque as it goes right off the scale of my torque wrench is this normal? and how the hell do i get it off ? its not like im a pigeon chested mincer neither.

If your not using an air gun, and your using a breaker bar, you want to be lifting up to undo, not pushing down.

You shoulnd't use a torque wrench to undo bolts.

Use the breakers bar and give it some pentrrating oil/WD40 etc.

How I do it is remove the centre cap on the wheel pop the 30mm socket trhough the hole loosen with the longest bar Ive got while car on ground. Then when its loose jack up, axle stands, wheel off, nut off etc.

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone no what torque the wheels nuts should be tightened to? on a mk2 ph1 1.2???

I cant re fit the wheel as the hub flange is badly damaged so i dont have a massive amount of options.

what do you retighten these upto, im sure is some stilly torque, I changed my rears and tightened them up without a torque wrench, used a 2 foot bar and made them fairly tight. will they be ok?

Put a bar on it with the 30mm socket and lean on it.
Get someone else with a hammer to gently tap the end of the socket at the same time.

It will come off so easy..

best bets a air gun, or if you havent got access to one then put your socket on the nut and hit it with a hammer hard, to shock it , some ones possibly put it on with loctite before, other than that it should defo come off

managed it in the end thanks guys just need to find some one with a hydrolic press near wigan/warrington who will press me in a new front bearing.

want it done right rather than f**king about with it i dont have a workshop or garage if it cant be done on a lawn i cant do it, also i need to the press the hub back onto the bearing.

i find it easier than pressing the casing out setting some weird shaped hubs up on the press can take forever

Take it to a back street garage who will press it for a tenner...........well they did both of mine for me anyway
