front bumper smoothing

  2008 Clio 1.2 TCE
i was told the other day that if i remove the bump strips of the front bumper and smooth them over and fill the number plate recess in that it will look good but because the bumper if plastic and if i touch something with it, it will just crack.

this happened to anyone
or is it recommended or not?

cheers

If you do it yourself, it will most likely crack. Mainly because the bumper is plastic it changes size slightly in different temperatures
If you're thinking of getting it done, get it done proffessionally

Doesn't matter who does it, put filler on the bumper and then bump into something with it and it will crack.

BTW what happened regarding the quote you got for all the smoothing?

Lol ! I remember that, I think the body shop got confused with what they were quoting for, hence why it was sooo cheap.

yeah i admit that was my bad... lol we both got confused... the price of £250 was for the front bumper only.... and another £200 for the back. think i am going to keep the side strips as it breaks the side up a bit and also means i can put car back to standard when it comes to selling up.

Don't go down the fibreglass route.

Get as much plastic welded as possible if you're thinking about doing it.

The rear is very easy tbh.
