Front coolant hose, P clip??

Anyone else noticed a P clip on their main Coolant hose that comes off the front of the block to the bottom of the radiator,

Its attatched to the subframe and i'm assuming is to stabalise it? Mine broke anyway, Is it meant to be there, I dont think its needed, Correct?

I buggered mine when i was putting my samco's on, iv used a cable tie to hold the hose now.
