Front seat Removal

4 bolts, outer ones are under a gromit, inner onces are indeed behind the exhaust shield, but iirc theres holes in the exhaust shield to get to the bolts without moving anything else,

also remember the wires that go into the bottom of the seat, dont just yank it out after taking the bolts out,

also, is wise to have the seat leaned forward when doing this, otherwise theyll fall backwards after taking the front bolts out.

Really easy to get them out mate, and yes it will need to be from underneath.

  My trusty lil 182 :)
As said, has to be from underneath but really easy. Didn't have to jack mine when standard height, do have to now it's lowered. IIRC you just need a 13mm socket on a short extension. Middle ones are a bit fiddly and the heat shield slices your fingers up nicely but there should be holes to get at the nuts. Ones near the sills are easy :)

I took mine out without going underneath. Just 5 bolts. (removing the seats from the ermm.. (subframe? runners? dont know its name)
2 on the door side. 3 in the middle.
All can be reached with a small adjustable or a socket set with extension. concealed behind the plastic trims
