FRS 500

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
I like it,and am glad ford are getting the message once more.

10k for 45bhp is a bit steap though...

  182 Trophy
lol @ ford sometimes, they made a car that couldnt handle 300bhp and gets pasted round tracks by both the r26r and the new meg 250 yet their answer was more power as per, flol.

LOL at can't handle the power. More traction than a Renaultsport Clio could even dream of. Yeah you're right, they're s**t. I'd much rather have the best hatchback ever built - the mighty 172Cup. Roffle.

  182 Trophy
nah the 172 cup is just an old clio that doesnt handle to well tbf, i compared it to the megane and on that front.... it fails.

price is abit silly too

Oh right. I've not driven the Megane so couldn't comment. Almost everything I've read suggests that the Megane and FRS are very similar in terms of ability, but the Focus usually seems to be more liked by road testers. Not quite sure how that constitutes a fail-car that (according to you) can't handle its power but I'm sure you got your opinion from somewhere. It certainly wasn't from driving one though.

fords only way of getting round the ring quicker than a R26R ;) (snigger)

  182 Trophy
majority of test have shown the new 250 to be a quicker car round a track than the frs, i do like rs's i just think theyve been so over rated and are over priced.

no i haven't driven one, but i never met hitler yet still know he was a c**k .....

lol i know, what does RS stand for tho? i always thought the old RS was ment to be like a Rally spec beast as it looked pretty rally-esk.

Looks great. Tbh, if I won the lottery I'd have one as a daily drive. That's how much I like them.

I think it looks cracking but agree with the comments about the paint being a bit daft.

You'd think they could squeeze in AWD for that price! (can. worms. open)

I've no doubt they'll sell every one no bother though with all the ford fan boys creaming themselves over it!

Would I pay 35k for one? Not a chance!!

Falls very much into the same boat as an S3 etc for me as being WAY over priced. Think of the car's you can get for 35k instead. Fare enough they'll be used but you could have a much better car IMO.

Also, should we have a sweeper on how many chavs will argue that the '500' is because it's got 500bhp? lol

Most of these sadly will spend there time being detailed to death by a geek, as are most of the normal Rs's. having said that i saw one on the ring once, Not long after it was launched, it had speared itself into the armco at Eiscurve, so I guessed he'd slipped on his own tyre black.

  Turbos.
I always pass a home back from my girlfriends which has a new Focus RS, the old Focus RS and a boggo Focus in the driveway. The RSs never move!

Yeah I would think many will go into dry storage.
At least yours will get proper usage Roy. Too many Ford geeks that seem to think a Ford is Ferrari-special because of 2 initials on the boot. Almost as bad as Vee owners lol.

Roffle. True up to a point, but TBH they are pretty special to own and it's easy to see why some owners spend all week buffing them up and then using them at the weekend. Mine just sits there covered in s**t until I decide to take it out and rinse some chavs in their Clios.

A v6 wouldn't see which way an FRS went anyway. The RS500 would probably lap it less than a lap.

There's only so special a FWD hatchback can be (imo). I'm no Vee fan (don't like the way they drive, not that quick, thirsty etc). But it's a special car, no doubt, unique.

Id want it to lap it twice at 35k tbh

I think alot of people are forgeting (although this is a special hot hatch) its still a Ford Focus with a volvo engine in much the same respects that a Clio V6 is a Clio with a Laguna engine.

And im not suprised with the comments about the price even though everyone wants something for nothing 35k is a bit of a piss take, but then so was a Clio V6 @ 27 when new 7 years ago.

Dunno if it has been mentioned, but I doubt you will ever see one, probably be locked away and never used, or detailed till it shrinks.

For sure, but the FRS is about as special as a FWD hatch can get. The engine & drivetrain alone elevate it above normal status. The steering is epic too.
I don't think it is. Something like the Vee was unique. Mid-engined, hatchback. Crazy.

The FRS is a powerful, FWD, hatch with LSD. Few of those about, the FRS is merely the most powerful/well equipped one about.

Agree with this, the V6 is more special. Only time will tell i guess.

I said FWD.

Everyone has their opinions on all sorts of cars. The FRS is greater than the sum of its parts and TBH you need to own one for a while to appreciate what I mean by special. We won't go down that road though as it'll end up sounding like a v6 argument.

  Turbos.
Its designed to have more traction you weapon.

And the Evo test suggested it is too road biased, as the new Megane was quicker round the track in the wet...

I'm sure the Focus is great, don't get me wrong, but i wouldn't compare it to a Clio 182. The hot hatch game has moved on a long way since the little Clio in terms of grip and speed.

Too late, that's the cut/paste Vee owners argument. :rasp:

Massively, the clio chassis was released in 2000?

Same sort of discussion as when that gen of hatch was released. Yes they were more capable than cars before. But to become more capable, they got heavier. And no matter how many toys you throw at a car, you lose something when you add weight.

It's why no matter how fun the Trophy is, it'll never have that livewire responsiveness that a 205 has.

^^ Exactly.

The FRS will be ace to drive everday I would imagine, forget the price and see it for what it is.

Maybe it won't be the best around a track, but it's not a track car, and many of them will never see a track, however, they will see plenty of dual carriageways, roundabouts and country 'b' roads, where I can only imagine it will be awsome fun.
