FRS in the Trossachs and beyond

As I'm single as s**t and all my mates are either working or have girlfriends, I found myself hangover and plan free this morning. Was a decent day for the first time in a long time, so decided to take the Focus a good blast. Snapped a couple of quick iPhone pics while I was there!

You know you're in the middle of nowhere when the road signs are in Gaelic as well as English!

I could look at pictures of this car all day, stunning! Makes me sad thinking about the new RS though, it just isn't a patch on this one :( oh well you can't win them all I suppose.

As much as the new one will no doubt be an absolute weapon on the road, it certainly doesn't do it for me like this one does. Then again, the only cars on the road that would even slightly tempt me out of this come with a £40k+ price tag!

Get off my road

Looks good mate, Shame i was working or i would of joined

Living in the middle of nowhere has its advantages for you with roads like these!

Cheers bud, it was indeed! Ideal roads too, barely saw a pothole all day.

I know it's hardly the same lol but on my computer game I've just from your car to a C63 AMG :tongueout: there was nothing else that tempted me away!

My Dad has that one but with the white alloys. He's still not thrown me the keys but I honestly think it won't be as fun as the 182 ; )

Awesome pics. I'm 99% sure I have a pic the exact same as your last one of my Fiesta there last year.

Damn!

That looks like a bloody awesome place!

It is! I don't make enough use of it really considering these sorts of roads are only half an hour or so from my house.

That's one of the few that would tempt me away from this, not that I could afford one mind!

I have one there as well of the Megane, Except its facing the other way LOL

So many photo opportunities on the route that I missed, due to being too busy driving like a ned, lol.

Where abouts are you from?

Will need to organise a run or something once the weather improves

I'm from Alloa, so half hour ish from Doune which is where things start to get fun and only get better the further you go!

Aye, get the Be Tapp'd lot involved.

Well you are deluded then.

Can't wait to get one in summer. Time is dragging badly. Would get one now as there are some properly nice examples for sale but just have no room at home and to lock it up in my warehouse is just a waste.

Not really deluded mate. Maybe I just need to drive one and see what they are actually like.

Did you not just get a Fiesta ST? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Had it since last July on lease. If the option exists (few people have said it does, need to read the paperwork) I'm going to pay it off after a year and get an RS.

I much prefer the standard Focus ST3 I have access to, than mine. So it's made me want an RS. With 400bhp. Can't wait.

Ah right, makes sense.

Aye, do it. It's completely impossible to get bored of boost, noise, bang, flame, repeat.

I want one!
The depreciation worries me though, prices haven't moved for what, 3 years?
I fear the mk3 may affect the value? It shouldn't really be compared with the mk1 as that was limited production.
If the prices stay as solid as they have been I'm getting one!

Oh, and you're single because green car.

Technically it was, the mk2 was originally projected for 8000 units or so, this was upped to 11,500 (world wide), all made before the end of 2010. The mk3 didn't come in until 18 months or so later & during that period you couldn't order a RS to your own spec, you had to buy whatever spec cars were already built & available in dealers stock.

  An orange one
Such an epic looking car! The front 3/4 angle is so purposeful! Great roads too! Nice one.

No idea how prices will go really, never worry about things like that, probably should mind!

Aye, if anything prices have gone up slightly over the past couple of years, or at least they have up here. I looked at one of these in the exact same spec, colour, age and mileage a little under 2 years ago and it was up for the same money I payed for this one this time last year. It would still easily sell on a forecourt up here for the money I payed, if not more.

Nah, I'm single because bitter and full of hate. :smirk:

I looked at a white 10 plate in Peter Vardy last month. Had a long chat with the sales guy who turned out to be a blue oval enthusiast. It's unusual to find a car sales rep who's actually into cars. I've owned 14 mk2 RS escorts in my time so quite fond of them. Absolutely immaculate it was as I went through it with fine tooth comb. Was for a friend but she got an Audi In the end.

If anything the new RS will ensure the value of these will remain solid. Who wants a bland looking five door RS FFS. The Mk1&2 focus RS will be a collectors one day similar to the MK1&2 escort now.

Nice car sir :)

Yup, for the moment. Still waiting for the buyer to get the money together. It ended up being dry on Friday so took it out and got some new pictures but then started questioning whether I should sell or not. Love the car but also want more power and AWD to help cope with it. Still unsure on what will be next but will just keep my daily Seat until I am ready. Keeping a close eye on the new RS but a number of people have suggested that to get big power you're going to need a rather large wallet this time round to uprate the other areas of the car. I'm guessing the AWD system/gearbox. These were the same people that also predicted (correctly) what the new RS was going to be like so I trust their information.

There is also something about the mk2 RS that I don't think I will be able to replace, the whole experience just seems magical and will always cheer you up when you get in and start driving it. It might not excel in a specific area but the whole package is fantastic.

I do worry the flat arched MK3 may look a bit bland out on the road, I'll wait to see it in real life though. A guy I know from this area also has a UG and whenever I see it coming towards me I think "Holy s**t that looks wide", they stand out a mile off on the road.

I agree with you about there being something about them. There is literally not a single car available today that I can actually afford that I would consider replacing this with. Anything that would tempt me out of it comes with a £35k+ price tag and huge running costs when used as a daily.

The only way I'll sell this is to get something a bit more sensible in terms of costs when needs be.
