Fuel tank bias

  320d

On a 172/182 how do you find the fuel gauge reads? Mine seems to really drop quickly from a full tank under normal driving, compared to my old valver which went for about 60 miles without the gauge moving from the full position. How do other people find it reads???????

My VTS, the first half goes down really slow and the second half much faster.

The rate at which it is used doesnt seem linear.

Its as if the tank is \ / shaped with the gauge at the bottom.

Its no wonder I often get caught out by the reserve light.

On my old RT, it behaved the same, itd stay at the top for ages then get faster nearer the bottom.

I reckon there is around a 1/3 of my Williams tank above the full mark. Then from full down accounts for the other 2/3rds.

Its the first car ive had that ive nearly run out of petrol with thanks to the last quarter dropping so quickly!

I found the fuel gauge to be very inaccurate.

Sometimes the petrol light comes on when ive got an eighth of a tank left, sometimes it comes on when im running on fumes.
