Full Circle - Ubuntu Community Magazine

Nice ! i've book marked that for later ! Looks like quite basic stuff they are covering though.

Ubuntu is also going into Mobile OS's (aka phones, pda's etc). How cool will that be !

I guess it has to start out basic for new comers and then slowly progress to more advanced things.

Would be grub as thats the bootloader.. but if it killed it you did something wrong.. :P

nope i worked out how to do it in the end but GRUB wouldn't load either ubuntu or winblows.

i'd either get GRUB hard disk error or cannot find operating system:dapprove:

Dink,

if you boot from a windows CD you can do a fixmbr to repair the master boot record (Where the Grub Boot loader sits) this will allow you to boot back into windows again as it re writes the master boot record for windows.

Regards
Rich :)

nope i read about that but i couldn't see a way of fixing from the disc i have.

pressed F2 for the ASR iirc but it was looking for a floppy

Sounds like you just needed to sort the partition numbers in the grub.conf

10 second job..

i take it all back lol

got it up and running on a spare pc and it's pretty good:approve:
