Funniest Thing You Have Been Told By A Dealer...

This thread does make me chuckle.

Some of the things heard from the dealers are genuinely laughable, such as the "please come back later, we're busy"

Other things are funny just because of the uptight cnuts that walk into a dealer, expecting them to be knobheads, and kick off about the slightest thing. Get over yourselves ffs.
 
Lookin at changing the R32 so went into Wrexham VW and said what we are lookin for and then asked how much he would give us for the Golf.

Dickhead then asked for the keys to have a look at it. Look out the window to see the tit drive off in it.:mad:
Came back and said ye its in excellent condition so will give you 11k for it.
It was at this point i asked if he was taking the piss and walked out.
 
Lamest "I've got an R32 for sale and want more than £11K for it thankyou please" post ever. ;)

What are you moaning about here? The price which isn't completely unreasonable for a part ex price or the fact he test drove a car he was going to buy off you which you'd do the same if it was the other way round? You didn't need to post a picture, we all know what an R32 looks like.
 
when i was looking at a cup the dealer told me it had all the usual extras ABS Traction etc ok i thought but the one that got me was because it has plastic arches he proceeded to tell me that there was an airbag in them to push me back of the central resevation [and back into the traffic hmmm] at this point i called him a silly cnut and walked off

Urm let me think.

It might be that a 4 year old (if the salesmen near me are anything to go by) didnt communicate to the owner that he was going to do more than go round the car to assess the overal condition.

Just maybe it is a insulting part ex price and he didnt try to find out what the owner was expecting before vomiting up a price?

I had the same thing when i went into a Abarth dealer with my 111R. He didnt drive it off but when he came back and asked his manager what he could offer he said hmm difficult one this... we can give you 10k for it!!!! WTF.... i said was he serious.... apparently so.... i said thank you and walked off.

Thanks that was my point.
He said he was going to look at the car not piss off in it. Would of been nice if he asked first. I know part exchange car prices are low but 5k lower is a bit much.
 
I went into Renault to pick up a part last week and asked if they have a 200 in/coming in.
The sales guy looked at me blankly....

"A 200, a Clio 200" I said

"Oh right...uh no, but we have the 250 coming in soon" He said

"But thats a Megane" I replied

"Is it". That was his response. Is it.

/facepalm.
 
I went into the Harrogate renault dealer (Evan Halshaw) basically to ask about a 182 for sale on the website - sorry to say the car was sold -

So whilst there thought I would ask about the new clio gordini 200 and when its due out ect -

Sorry sir theres going to be no such thing - only a Twingo version.

I asked are you sure - seeing what was at the Geneva Motor Show.

I will go and find out for you - asks the manager of the dealer .....

No, theres no such thing.

Only to go back home go on the renault website and BOOM Renault Clio Gordini 200. :rasp:
 
Harrogate branch is ace ;). Noticed they have a "RenaultSport Specialist" (or something similar) sticker on the side of an R26 they are selling .... don't recall them being on the list of specialists ...
 
Got two for you, first one is Halfords.
Goes like this, Dad and I are in the middle of changing over the water pump on the Clio and because you have to take off all the belts to do this we thought we might as well change the Alternator belt while we are doing this (already had the others), so phoned up the local Halfords and the manager answers.
Me:'Do you have a Alternator belt for a Renault Clio...blah blah..'
Store manager:'we dont have that part in stock but I can check to see if another store near by has one for you if thats ok?'
Me:'yeah no problem'
Manager:'ok sir, the closest is Swindon halfords and has two in stock'
Me: 'thanks, ill go and head up there now'
After about a half hour drive, we get to swindon halfords, walk up to the parts desk
Me:'hi, im here to pick up an alternator belt for a renault clio...blah..blah..'
Parts guy:'sorry sir we dont have any of those in stock'
Me:'you what?! I was told by my local store there were two in stock and came here from Cirencester to get this and its not in stock!'

You get the picture... stupid thing is the ordinary staff in my local shop are actualy quite good, usualy go there for bits cos its cheap and close to home. Manager there is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot!!

And now for Kwik-Fail

Parents Skoda is in for its service. Requested an all round brake check whilst it was there. Turn up after the estimated completion time, walk up to the counter with dad and ask about the car... (would like to add that my Dad is an ex-aircraft mechanic, garden machinery mechanic and has had years of messing around with cars, so theres not allot he doesnt know about machines)
Dad:'hello, here to pick up the Skoda'
Service monkey:'ok sir, just a couple of things. We couldnt do the rear drum brakes because if we take them apart, because of the way they are designed they might break. This will mean a whole new unit. Also your front tyres are very close to the limit.'
Dad:'right, ok leave the brakes then, how much for like-for-like replacements on the tyres?'
Monkey:'£160 for both sir.'
Dad:'ok, if you would fit those please, we will be back soon'

Get back
Dad:'Back for the Skoda'
Monkey:'ok sir, thats £160 please'
Dad pays, we walk out and he says 'quick leave before they realise they only charged for the service and not the service AND tyres'

Bloody morons, stupid claim about the drum brakes 'might break if we pull them apart'. Needless to say our confidense in them shot down like a stone! And as for forgetting the tyres.... IDIOTS:lolup: and as Dad said, wasnt worth the effort of pointing out their stupidity, we would just not come back again.

Really does make you wonder sometimes doesnt it?

Went to get a speedo sensor for my 172 Cup the other day...

only to be told that the speedo sensor is in the abs system....

me: no, its on top of the gearbox...

dealer: i dont think so

me: well i hope so, i dont have abs you see

when i took mine for the free summer health check , the guy comes back with a list of things i was already aware of.

dealer: right ill get you a price on this list weve got
me: ok, give me a price on the stuff minus the 2 front tyres as i know i can get them cheaper
dealer: yea but we'd like your custom so ill get you a price anyway!

not with renault. it was land rover took my defender to get some things looked at. they said we dont no whats wrong with it but theres lots wrong with it maybe u should have got something else and not to have got a hand made 1. as hand made cars arnt as good.

customer: can i have an air filter for my rover
me: yeah sure what rover is it?
customer: its a rover 24 2010 on an 06 plate
me: hmm you sure they dont make a rover 24 and you cant have a 2010 06 plate
customer: YES it is i do know i drive it!
me: oh right :s sure you do...

took me ages to expalin to him how number plates worked and showing him pictures of rover 25's...
 
What i can never understand is poeple who come into the dealership and ask questions which they allready know the answers??? there are some sad c**ts out there!
 
I was told that silver 172 cups do not exist, and that they were fakes. Bearing in mind I was looking at a silver 172 cup at the time it was an interesting conversation.

I didn't buy that car strangely enough....
 
I was asking about the Clio 200
When I was looking to buy one and one dealer told me it had a turbo.lol should of seen his face when I asked him to show me where it was.

A renault dealer told one of my friends a few years back that a bog standard 182 had a turbo haha, sure enough i got a phone call asking if this was true...I acutally lol'd haha
 
a few years ago I was looking at a car at a local second hand car dealership.

I noticed that some of the paint lacquer had peeled off, the salesman saw that I had noticed this and promptly stated that "they all do that my car hasn't got any on at all"...this was made worse as he kept talking about the car as a 'she' ....numpty..

Not Renault, but a used car sales garage in Ayrshire (Kilmarnock) 6 weeks ago
Was looking at a 2.7 V6 Hyundai coupe they had for sale, anyway I arranged a time to view it, I turn up and it was in the middle of being polished, so I waited 15mins for this guy to finish, anyway have a look around the car and I take it for a test drive, all is going well, still had a 172 to look at the following day, so I said I'll have a think about it and will call you tomorrow, his respose was to turn his back, walk away, and call me a "f*cking timewaster"

anyway I bought the 172!

This happened to me and my brother. We arranged an appt with a small garage to see a 172, and on arrival it had a flat battery. We waited 90mins while he fetched a new one and fitted it, and took it for a test. It was the first one my brother had driven so we said "we'll let you know," and the salesman said "Don't bother, I wouldn't f****d around with it if I knew you were timewasters." I got a bit mad with this, threw the key at him and told him to stick his 172 up his large pretentious a**e. He looked shocked.
But seriously, who would buy a car without testing it, or at least hearing it run? He must be a proper mental.
My bro has since bought a mint 182.
