gear box oil change on 172

how do you do this is there a guide? what oil and how much?

Down under the airbox is a plastic wing nut, thats where you fill it, iirc its 3.4 litres. then underneath the box there4 is a 15mm nut, which is the drain for it.

its got the same sump plug as the actual sump, underneath 8mm square

as Dan says the filler is on the front face of the box, use a bendy funnel and fill from above (slowly!)

how do you know the levels? is it just 2.5 ltrs? and fluid needed or just trade stuff?

ATF flujid is best to use imo. And its 3.4litres, but if it just dribbles out the hole(ooerr missus) then thats the right level.
