Gear stick help

  172 cup TT
Just sheared my (B&M) gear stick off....

Took the gaiter off and looked underneath and there is just about a 3" bit of the "stick" left.... i can change gear and everything still as the snapped off bit(bit connected to the nob (ha)) slots over the 3" stub.. BUT i cannot lift to put into reverse.....

I have spoken to a few of the pro's on here (Gary_G/Andy, fred, benR - cheers) and trying to source a new stick.. BUT is there any way for the short term to be able to get the fucker into revearse???.. its hard enough moving the little stump as it is, but lifting it and putting over to the left into revearse is impossible i think (with hands only)... Is it worth trying a pair of pliers? Or is there no point trying to engage revearse until i have a new stick in place??

Thanks all

Floodie

Cant you just remove the sprung loaded bit and then lift it without hassle? Trying to remember what the b&m was like.
