Gearbox issues Quality garage needed ASAP!

  Sport 172 flame Red
Ok so the common crunching in 3rd gear has reared it's head and I'm in need of a good knowledgable renault specialist to check things over and carry out any necessary work.

The vehicle is a : 2002 Renault Clio sport 172

I have warranty with my car which renault gave me and it allows me to use any garage across the UK that is VAT registered.

I am based in the Cambridgeshire area but I am willing to travel to a certain extent to get the best for my vehicle.

If anyone can lead me in the right direction It would be much appreciated.

thanks, Brad.

I'm really after someone to check the vehicle over first to actually diagnose that it is what I think it is.

But how much is involved in removing the box?

Your probably going to get charged between 6-8 hours labour to remove/refit your gearbox at a garage.

this does not matter as Renault themselves will be paying for any costs as i have 6 months warranty from Renault that's for any VAT registered garage across the uk.

?????? Any garages anyone?

Yeah sorry mate thanks for the help!

We're VAT registered, based in B'ham

Hi thanks for the heads up. I'm having some slight issues reference the warranty, I have wear and tear clauses and unfortunately a local company are advising I head north back to Chorley and let them deal with things as the warranty company can play up and not pay out and I would be left with a hefty bill if they put it down to 'wear and tear' :/

Now the Renault garage have offered that they will deal with the claim with the warranty company and use their gearbox specialist to sort the problem but that means taking the 4 hour trip to drop the car off and then the drive back when it's done at my own costs.

The car is not in a serious condition where I feel it's not safe to drive but what do you guys recommend I do with this warranty situation, I am swaying more towards taking the 4 hour trip and letting them deal with it as I've only had the vehicle a few weeks and its very frustrating.

Do I take the risk and use a local company or take it back to Chorley?

Sparky, take it back and let it be the dealers problem if they are giving you that option.
If not though, then Fred comes highly recommended and I'm sure will be able to do things for you like a seperate invoice for a new clutch while its apart as pointless not putting one in when its so cheap to do with the box off.

Thanks for the reply!

i have decided this weekend to take the vehicle back and get it all sorted and let them deal with things.

As reference new clutch it has litterally just had a new clutch from Renault before i bought it, as it had a noisey release bearing.

im going to ask them to fit new bearings while the box is out also.

519 unfortunately are not VAT registered otherwise i would have definately given them the work.
