gearbox, notchy when warm..

Hey guys, when changing on the shift light/over rev light whatever you want to call it. when cold as in ive been driving normally etc it will go 2nd to 3rd fine.

When ive been giving it some beans for a bit it wont go in smoothly, it still goes in but it feels like there's something stopping it being smooth if that makes sense..

I put some halfords 75/80 in it about 4 months ago, and have done a few trackdays and its been fine. only just noticed this ?

Can anyone shed some light on what it could be :)

Might be worth checking the oil level. I used 75/90 oil before and it made my gearbox notchy like you say but only once warm but your obviously using the correct grade.

Does the halfors oil meet the GL5 requirements? The gearboxs from what i know are very fussy on oil.

Yeah im going to check today.. do i do this by removing the nut on the side and should trickle out if its up to level ?

Its fine for the first five minutes and if i change just when it comes on its smooth, but if i hold on to the revs it doesn't like it

Should trickle out but probably wont, so you will need to stick a finger in there to see how high or low the lvel is. I would recommenc the castrol GPX 75/80 from opie oils. Smoothed my gearbox out.

Ah right i noticed it said GL4, that not the best stuff then i take it ?

Cheers for the links ill get some bought

Out of curiosity, whats the difference between GL4 and GL5 cheers

Found the answer for anyone bothered.

Something to do with differnt materials in GLV which need to work below the input shaft.

Basically make sure you use GL5
