Generic Mint project (6r GTI Polo)

  182, 6r GTi
Moving away from my Clio as a daily driver it became to much for me on a daily basis, so i dug deep and have purchased a Polo 6r GTI,

Not upto speed with the latest VW specs, but what's the 6r?

Like the gti in white, just not been a fan of those wheels

Lovely lovely car. These should be known as a golf in my opinion as they are the right size. Great gearbox too!

Sat in one of these yesterday, the Mrs and I are trying to come up with the money for one. We both LOVE it!

Very nice mate - very nearly bought one before xmas, glad i never now though.

I see the european market is to get a Polo R WRC with the Golf GTi engine mated to a manual 6 speed. I really can't see which market its aimed at although i get they have to do 2,500 homologation regulated 'road cars'. But at €34,000 i can't see why you wouldn't pump for the Golf R/GTi in the first place?

Pretty nice, mind;

what are your plans?

plans are as followed

ITG intake - purchased
Forge boost hoses - purchased
911 coolant and oil cap - purchased
forge front mount
turbo back exhaust
dsg gearbox remap
Amd remap

with the above mods im hoping for around 220-230 hp

there are a few other things id like to do but not important at the moment such as

Recaro Sportster Cs
BBS CH 17x7.5 so i can get a little more tyre on the wheels
coil-overs

Awesome plans mate. I do really like the GTi variant.

Very cool little car.

I had (well have its still on my drive) a 60 plate Fabia VRS (same engine and box) such an amazing little car, the way it pulls effortlessly from any gear! I miss it but I do love the handling and noise of the clio, plus at least I own the clio :)

Looks excellent! I'm seriously considering one of these. Where are you buying parts from? I'd like to find out more on the car and options available..

  Polo + Micra
glad to see xenons have come back on this gti.

front number plates ruin every car made but i'd leave it with the new plate

most of the parts im getting will be coming form a place called AwesomeGTI if you type that in on google they have lots of parts

as for the mapping site of things that will be done at AMDtuning in Essex

Agreed Dink the new plate has tided it up a fair bit IMO not looking to spoil the car just improve on the car, things that imo should have been options out of the factory (obviously not the tuning side but with a little extra power the car will be great fun)

What sort of MPGs are you getting in town/motorway mate?

Need to see if its worth the change over the Golf...

normally on a drive to work roughly 15mile i get 38mpg and thats a mix of being stuck in traffic and 5 miles of constant 40 mph

if i drive like a massive girl the best ive had is 49mpg

The best I got out my Fabia was 44mpg over about 250miles, that was two up and full of camping equipment! Around town it averaged 32/34mpg a tank! I'd say the polo is a bit more aerodynamic too so should be better

few more bits ordered for the polo should hopefully be here very soon then ill be off to AMD to get her remapped.

got my vwr intake so heres a pic of it fitted. nice roar to it without it being to much

Good stuff!

I'm really torn between one and the R Line at the minute. I had a drive in my friend Ed30 with DSG last week and I really couldn't get on with it.

If they did them with a manual, I'd be all over one tbh.

when i first got the car i hated the dsg i was going to sell it, but after getting use to it i really like it. especially seing as i spend 80% of my drive to work in traffic makes it effortless

more parts arived in the shape of a Forge front mount and a Whiteline rear ARB
wheels are on order but no longer bbs CH as they have been discontinued in the size.stud pattern i need
