Getting a Ph1 172 Gear Knob Off

I cant do it can anyone give me any advice, i tried heating it up with a blow torch and then hammering it, and just hammering it. Can anyone that has done it tell me how, please.

Ive just been hammering the little b*****d for a good 20 min, not moved at all! How can i get this off

Saw it off.

yea but even if i saw it off its still going to have a metal rod in the hole, unless i drill it out :evil:

i had to take the whole assembly out of a car i did and angle grind it.
