Getting greasy white mark off black car

I have a couple of awful white marks, looking like finger prints and hand marks around the doors on my black paint.

Tried autoglym paint renovator but seems to do pretty much nothing

Anyone got any tips on what to do?

I will supply a picture tonight if that helps.

Any ideas on what they are? Sun cream? Glue etc?

I'm afraid I have no idea, live in Scotland so chances of suncream are slim.

I'm so lazy and un-car proud that they have been there for months but really need to get them cleaned up now

Hmm. First try Super Resin Polish. See how you get on with that. If that doesn't work, claying or tar and glue remover would be next on my list.

Is that some sort of glue or solvent that has been spilt on there?

Alcohol wipes or some methylated spirits will get that off if SRP doesn't. Looks like it should just polish out though.

You need to compound polish it with a machine, See it a few times at work and they 9/10 require me to hit it with the buffer, Its not actually grease is it? just a white mark in teh laquer

I really have no idea what it is, but it is definately in the shape of a hand, some small finger prints about also. So must have been somthing on my hand at some point

Is that not marring ? Is it definately geasy?

Juat get some scratch X from Halfords and a thin Microfibre cloth and rub like buggery for a while.

Hmmm, looks like a football "scuff" to me, but my eyes aren't what they use to be (they use to be my ears, for all you Goon Show fans).

I would be surprised if Megs Scratch X or SRP doesn't get that out, but alcohol wipes are also a good shout. Can you feel the marks with your finger nails? I.e. do they catch in anything when you run them across the mark?

Nope, they are quite smooth

Almost like the paint has faded in that area

Hmmm, in that case, could be a lacquer issue, as someone else mentioned above. Machine polishing could be your only option . . . !
