Getting the best from my Racing Blue.

Indeed. I'm still fighting the temptation to top C1, how it can bead and sheet like day 1 is fascinating, honestly it's the best protection i've seen since I started detailing. I always said it will be the first thing I would do on any future car I own.

Then if you want to top the wax for some looks you'll be fine. It'll last maybe a but less than normal but you'll still have the C1.

What sort of prices are you talking for a treatment of C1 (it's trade only isn't it?)

I never said it was going to look better but you simply cannot compare applying 476 to something like BOS, or Glasur or even Vics Red at £20!

Detailing is about pampering the car so I don't see what's wrong with buying nice products and waxing/sealing is the pièce de résistance if you will. 476 just leaves my cold. You admitted in your previous post about fancy waxes feeling more special. That to me makes them worthwhile.

I personally have never had an issue with 476. Works a treat easy to apply and remove.

I totally appreciate detailing and am not sceptical at all.

But using waxes especially more expensive waxes gives detailing nerds ( me included) a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Opening the nice little glass pot for the first time after its been delivered in its little cardboard box with polystyrene bits everywhere. The smell of the carnauba oils, the softness at which it touches the pad. Gliding the applicator all over the paintwork like your rubbing oil over a supermodels chest. Buffing the paintwork with our plush towels. Then you stand back and look at it and go wow.

Ive wasted enough money on detailing fads that i am happy with Jeffs and 476. yes certain waxes may give a slightly better look. But marginal.
I reached a brick wall with my Racing Blue. It was impossible to make it anymore shinier/glossier/smoother/silkier.

I agree on the wasting money. It is something that I have been forced out of due to moving to London + lack of time, but I am actually thankful. Once the car goes, I stand to be impressively better off each month, purely due to not buying IronX, Tardis, G101 and the other usual monthly purchases for detailing the car at the weekend for the sake of it/enjoyment.

However, there is no way that you can compare 476 to Glasur. Or even to waxes that fall into the same price bracket. Vics, HD and Nattys will all wipe the floor on looks and ease to apply.

You not agreeing with me/Kev/OP/A.N.Other is what, as I have always said, detailing is all about - that personal experience. And that's the beauty of it for all of us.

If the surface is polished well most waxes would look amazing!

Agreed. But 476 is a very dull looking wax. I'd apply a cheap meguiars spray wax before 476 (on bodywork).

look at it a different way, on a well prep'd surface a decent wax or sealant may and can add that little something that sets it apart. whereas a poor wax or sealant can also be the reverse and actually take away from the final finish. I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard someone say 476 actually muted the flake pop of a metallic paint

You're missing the point, there is nothing wrong with it, I still own a pot, but it is not and should not be comparable to more expensive waxes that's all

Maybe as i use it after a machine polish and jeffs carnauba sealant it doesnt actually do much. I had a Metallic Laser blue golf GTI and that looked immense with 476 on it.

On a flat colour like Racing blue 476 works well and i cant see how other waxes could look better? Fine Metallics maybe.
