getting to the spark plugs

hello all

i`ve done a few searchs but cant find a step by step guide on how to get to the spark plugs on a phase 1 172! i no where they r but id prefer to no exactlt wot bolts and clips to undo before just jumpin straight in there!

also how long does it take?

When the engines cold, remove the engine cover, 4 bolts. undo the 7 10mm bolts on the plenum, disconnect MAP,TPS, Temp sensors and breathers from the plenum and TB, also induction hose, throttle cable.
Disconnect the ingnition leads(remember the order), and the plenum should pop off. You going to need the rubber O ring and new gasket plenum to manifold.
Should be pretty obvious from there

Easy job

Remember not to over torque the bolts on re-fitting....the cast aluminium threads are very easy to strip if your not careful.

cheers guys, sound tougher wen seein the engine bay infront of me especially taken the throttle cable off

Basically it holds the cams in directly on that engine, and if you remove it, they'll more than likely come out and fcuk your timing.

Without some special tools its a b*****d to sort

I'll leave mine on then for now, was thinking of painting or polishing.

The plenum sits on a breather which is sealed by a rubber O ring, it will need changing if you take the plenum off along with the plenum to manifold crush gasket.

havnt bought new 1s just wanted to add some redex and clean it out abit but from the sounds of it i mite giv it a miss, not gonna risk doin it myself unless some1 whos done it before is wiv me

mainly becuz im pissin useless with engines!
