Going from bad to worse

Always having little problems here and there, not so bad when I can easily sort them myself, but now, second day in a row the battery is dead! driving me stark raving MAD, had a little sit in the car for an hour with ignition off etc, after about 20 minutes after turning the engine off, I could hear a whirring sound, after a bit of inspection, it sounds like the fuel pump is randomly starting up with a mind of its own, disconnected it and poof, no more whirring sound, so at a guess, that is the problem. Has anyone else experienced this before or have any clues what is going on?! I always thought my car had a slight human side with emotions and such, but now getting turned on by herself (yes, filthy joke there ), in the middle of the night... thats a bit too much for me!
Any ideas/help is GREATLY appreciated, don't want to be disconnecting the battery every damned night, took me long enough to set up my equalizer and don't want to keep loosing it >.<

Call me thick as mud but, a)where the hell is this damned relay and b) how do I go about checking it? if its something I can diagnose and fix on my drive, I cannot justify having to fork out for some scally with a big selection of tools to do the same job

Check all the relays in the engine bay.

checked all the relays and they all seem fine, the fuel pump is out of it by the sounds of it *sigh*

the fuel pump only works when its got power you need to see where its getting it from. The fact its random shows its not a hard connection at least.

Well from what I can tell, Relays are working fine, starter is fine, it just refuses to start at all now. Trying to get it to a garage now but the only one close enough to push it too is busy till end of next week at the earliest and the only other car available, I'm not insured on and I doubt it has any hope in hell of towing my clio, and havnt got the money for paying for a recovery, This week just gets worse and worse *sigh*
