going slow and crashed

  E39 530i
This morning going to work, going round a corner (wet like hell) car skids left then right the left then bang. Miss the trees by a meter and end up facing down the wrong way. And some how the passengers seat air bag went off

car is semi-fooked rear wheel pointing outwards, and passengers seat gone off.

No body damage though

Write off? i think so....... :( :dapprove: :S

Watch out guys

I did similar in the wet last year, slid sideways into the curb.

£4000 damage.... It basically fooked all the suspension on the passenger side...it also set of my passenger pretensioner when there was knowone in the seat.

No body damage at all.

rear axels go for about £300 on ebay, i would contact matt @ renault specialist breakers in accrington.

iirc if a seat air bag goes of you need to buy a new little computer that controls the airbag, again matt will be able to help with that i would think.

im guessing he mounted the curb and the inside of the wheel hit it hard.. or the stub axle has sheared off........

Yeah thats right, inside hit the curb. I sh!tted myself when the seat went off. Im just SOO glad i missed that tree. Could of ended very messy.

Insurance now have the car in one of their garages. If I choose for them not to go ahead with the repaires will I still loose my no claims as I have told them about the accident and as they have towed the car away?

ANYONE GOT A NUMBER FOR MATT @ RENAULT SPECIALIST IS ACCRINGTON???

If you decide not to claim you keep your no claims. They may charge you having had the car towed/ stored though, depending on which garage it went to.

Wont be a write off fella.

Coming up in september I would of had 4 years no claims. Whats the best thing to do if its a write off? Dont go through with it and wait until september, get the 4th year no claim and fix it else where?

Guess it all depends on what cat (A, B, C, or D) the damage is, innit.

I very much doubt it will be a write off tbh. Hang in there, shop around for parts/repair quotes etc, wait til you can protect your no claims and then if you do decide to claim it won't be as bad..

Unlucky move but could happen to any one of us

Best of luck mate

It was the side closest to the passenger door only which went off.

So correct me if im wrong, do you mean, if they are willing to fix it then wont be a write off? Then, I should take the car back without getting them to do the work, not making a claim - keeping my no claims. Then take my time paying for the work myself to fix it up?????? :S

As they said you've could of lost your no claims anyway as they have had to come out to recover the car. They said the same to me when some debris damaged the radiator on my old car so I didn't bother and drove it home like a mile at a time.

If you do go through the insurance i'd say it'll be a CAT C due to a combination of age and damage

You could PM Winston as he was breaking a Ph1 172 the last i heard and the full rear end of it was in perfect order
