Going to view a RSI...

  ?
Seen a nice Mk2ph1 rsi 1.6 16v .... good price and agreed to p/x mine. Going to see it soon, but its a long way away (200 miles) so i want to know what should be looking out for as i plan to view it, p/x mine and drive away the same day.

Any major things to look out for? full service history and low mileage btw.

  RB 200 Cup!
had all its major services then? belts ect?

suppsoe usual checks to make sure your happy with it

should've had 7 services (they are annual)
check the alloys for kerbing
Check tire tread and for even wear
Check all the usual

Keep in mind that a lot of 1.6's are bought by young lads who want something faster than a 1.2 and end up being ragged constantly and from cold.

  Never above 25mpg
Check if the bonnet catch has been done too! Its free anyway from Renault to get done but you dont need the risk of it flying off when you're driving back ;)

Check

gearbox, mines really slack,
central locking,
if it has a spare key,
if the alarm is fitted and working,
what the engine sounds like from cold,
the brake pads and discs, drums etc,
condition of exhaust,
paintwork,
seat runners,
if the accelerator cable has been changed (should be a tick in the F1 box on a sticker under the bonnet.. Renault will change it for free. Might not apply to you, think it could be import only or something),
rust around arches,
wetness around the shocks and joints,
etc..

So many things to check really, but it's best to spend a few minutes looking round and driving it, you should get a sense of if it's been looked after.

Make sure they give you all the service history etc.

its in the nipple on the bottom of passenger wing mirror. In the dash it will give a temperature reading for outside, if it reads about right then its all good stuff

I sold my RSI 1.6 16v a few weeks back for £1700

FSH and in superb condition throughout.

Damn, seems like that was a steal! this ones approx £200 more than that. But i suppose an advantage is their taking my old car off me.

I was looking at that one last night, can't remember seeing anything obviously amiss with it.

just summat to think about: do the majority of previous lady owners have private regs? maybe a sign that it was the owners son who was driving it as mentioned before?

Sorry no, just on Autotrader. Was thinking of trading in the Si, but want something with lower mileage really. Strange how there's the seat handle on the back seat in one of the photos, but not too expensive to sort if it's broken.

Hmm could be... but it is in really good condition (bar one tiny dent) there are no scrartches etc original allloys not curbed...

I noticed this too, maybe a chance to get some money off!

Lol, maybe. Best chance to get some money off is to point out the wheels ;) Hideous creations imo! Does have a few things over the Si like Dual Optics, electric wing mirrors, 16v, rear headrests and so on. Looks ok, I would do my own HPI check just to be sure though, worth spending a few quid to save 334 miles worth of petrol!
