Goodbye Pug 106 GTi, hello clio 182!

  FF Arctic Blue 182

Got fed up with all the rattling on my Pug 106 GTi, so chopped it in for a spanking new Clio 182 in Titanium wid both cup packs! Gotta wait until the 5th May for it though as it has to built for me :(

Is there a better car out there for the same cash thats better? From the test drive I dont think so! Before ordering the Clio I test drove a 206 GTi 180 and a Civic Type-R, and I think the Clio kicked arse!

So its a big hello from a soon to be new Clio owner!

Surprised to hear that, always assumed the built quality on Hondas was top notch.

I took a CTR out before i bought my 172 and was very disappointed. The back end felt a little unpredicable in high speed corners and not as nimble as the clio. It was all about the engine when you were booting it tho!

I have to say it was the clio all the way for me (and six grand in my back pocket!!)

Funnily enough my mate has had more trouble with his CTR than I have had with my 182. Same applied to his BMW when I had a Vectra. Who would have thought.

I bought my 182 on the grounds that it was as fast, had more toys and whilst it would be more unreliable the trade off would be saving a few grand. It was a tough decision but the 182 just won it. With what I know now the decision would have been a lot easier although a part of me still wants a CTR.

Apparently it is...i was speaking to a mechanic the other day and he said Hondas are the cars to get at the mo for quality

Heheh it cant be as bad as the 106, trust me :)
My brand new Clio Cup rattled more than my 4 year old 106 GTi did... and was a hell of a lot more unreliable...

I also had a 106 gti before my 182, you wont be dissapointed, done 4600 miles now after having owned it for 5 months it just seems to be getting faster, the more stick i give it the faster it goes, seems to be loosening up nicely ;) What you will notice is the amount of torque available low in the rev range, something the gti was missing out on big time, also for me it seems more stable cornering at higher speeds, seems like a natural progressing from the gti, though the gti is still an awsome car. Have fun.

Had a 106 Quiksilver before my 182 and there is a big difference - although they both rattle! Enjoy it when you get it...

Yup, our P-Reg 1.4 RT had less rattles too... old ones were built better I reckon...

I have a ctr and believe me they do not have as good a build quality as everyone goes on about. I had the emission light come on 3 times resulting in the manifold and catalytic converter being replaced. The Passenger sun visor just fell off, the driver seat literally came apart at the seems, the silver door handles are so cheap the silver came off about 1000 miles.

I have to admit the engine and gear box setup is of amazing build quality and performance, its just a shame about the rest.

I have just ordered a 182 with all the bits including the recaros, hoping it will be fun. (thinking of cancelling recaros though cause the wait is nightmare and the back seats look a bit crap)

Cheers Guys, I think the reason my 106 rattles so much is was lowered 60mm and I think the standard shocks are on the way out. So just about every part of the interior is loose :)

I pick it up 29th May and I cant flippin wait, am in Spain next week though so I wont have much English time to wait. I have only seen 2 182s in Chesterfield, but so many Civic Type-rs its stupid, do they not know the 182 is so much better? :p

I had a Puma for a few yrs before my 182. The Puma wasnt that quick in a straight line but the handling made up for it so down b-roads u could keep up with almost all cars. I tested a CTR and Leon Cupra but so glad I went for the 182 in the end. Handling is as good, if not better than, the Puma (I have cup suspension and spoilers) although the steering isnt quite as communicative in my opinion. Love my 182, its done 17K miles now and it flies.. and then it gets to 5K revs and rockets! ;)

Welcome to the site btw!
