Gordini why do people not like them?

Hi,

Not sure if these forums are as active as they once were, but ive always been one for forums and how helpful they are,

Anyway, what is it with the gordini people dont like? I dont understand as they are the same as the normal 200 just with more features for everyday driving?

Yeah seats etc are horrific but a nice modified one that replaces the bits people dont like such as seats and wheels are they truly thay bad?

It was just a lame effort by Renault to be honest.

I have seen a tastefully modified one for sale on FB recently though.

This is the one I was talking about.

Aside from the front splitter it looks nicely done. The white Braid wheels and reupholstered recaros look spot on 👌

Exactly so because it was a gordini would but it looked like that would it effect the re sale? Would it put people off? Even though thats unreal?

I’m not a huge fan of Albi Blue, I’d much prefer a 200 in any other colour.

What do you mean by lame effort bud?

I just think bog standard seats in leather and some white bits and the god awful wheels then them trying to tie it back to some old Renault Model was a bit meh

I much prefer the Raiders which came in two matte finishes or the Silverstone Edition.

To give that one’s its due it’s the only decent one I’ve seen which seems to have impeccable history and a great advertisement by the seller too.

The modded one looks nice, but not a fan of the original dini interior and wheels personally.
Yeah i do agree massively

Yeah i do agree mate massively, it want something that will be a weekend car and some trips to the ring and everything else I have planned, I do like it but reading somethings on here has put me off, I understand the styling was pretty awful but when its all been changed it looks well,

Ive been looking for months for a sub 70k car with recaros, history and everything else but nothing rarely comes up thats all, I never looked at the gordinis till that one then did some research and seem alot of hate in regards to them which threw me a little.

But like below all that can be changed and when its done it looks bang on? So I dont understand the problems thats all? Whys spec naff? They come with alot of comforts, and tech like folding mirrors etc etc

Well yes but you did ask.

I would say the issue is people want a premium for them being ‘special’ yes you can mod them to look good but why buy a Gordini if you don’t like the looks, pay a premium, then pay out even more to change it and then devalue it to others who value the gordini spec.

I’d have one of it was cheap enough for sure but I’d have to go speedlines and paint the front bumper blade gloss black.

If an albi 200 was for sale already on speedlines and a Gordini was for sale stock it wouldn’t make any sense me buying the gordini. That’s my only issue with them.

The modded one on Facebook looks great.

I recently bought a 200 and what put me off a Gordini, was the spec and styling. Both can be overcome, but cost money, and ultimately made them unattractive vs competition.

I wanted recaros, speed lines and a cup spoiler - they were non negotiable. If they didn’t come with the car, I deducted the cost of amending to my required spec. This largely meant I thought sellers were grossly overvaluing Gordinis. Cars without the seats are so much less desirable.

The styling is also not always to my taste. The bits that stand out for me are the diamond cut blue/black wheels, the white wing mirror covers, front bumper insert/tongue and steering wheel.

I like the gordini, it's not albi blue it's Malta blue RNT and apart from the stripes and horrible wheels they look OK. Yeah the interior is a bit ott but the standard interior is a bit plain so who's counting. My daughter has a twingo gordini and the colour scheme really isn't that bad.

most didnt have cup pack
colour is nice, stripes are naff.
interior seems to wear terribly

and then i think the big issue that puts people off... THE WHEELS!

Wheels are borderline criminal behaviour! Really odd they went with a wheel off an earlier model too. One of my weird hates is incorrect era OE wheels on cars & doing this to me is just not cricket.
