umm, it was £30 plus vat to repair the damage to the port and have another seat put in, another £30 plus vat for all new stem seals. its cost about £250 in parts including a new cambelt kit head gasket set, head bolts ect......

i paid £2200 for the car with 2owners and 67k on the clock. the car is pretty mint, just unlucky the valve snapped, doesnt look like anything has caused it to go just unlucky

Tom, good that you are clever enough to fix it yourself. I'd have thought that would be an expensive fix .

I'd have no idea where to start!

nah no one would have known, the guy i bought it from offerd to give us a few hundred back towards the costs, but that was before it was stripped and knew what was wrong, but i havent spoken to him since, not his fault.

yeah its not cost loads realy, still a right pain in the arse though. i had a friend help me to strip the engine down, i wouldnt be able to do it all by myself, its a bit out of my leauge.

Properly bad luck there .. but good on your getting it fixed straight away with no moaning, hassle, blaming anyone, suing anyone etc lol

Good time for a bout of upgrade-itis tho ? ;)

unlucky fella, i'd be gutted. i would be temped to do some hardcore work on the engine instead of buildin it back up standard

That pistons had a reet twatting! Unlucky fella but you'll be future proofed with belts now so thats a good thing.

Give the piston a flat down where the damage is, doesn't look to deep so I wouldnt worry but dont leave it like that.

yeah i took the bur off now, its only about 3mm deep so should be fine. head is about to go on in a min, will try and get some more pics up later

small update, the head bolts were wrong and wont get the right ones untill monday so the car will be finished then. i put a few of the old bolts in for now to hold it in place so i could put the exhaust manifold, some sences and hoses ect back on

nice clean head;

jees. This is the second case of this on here in 2 or 3 days. Some guy had the same problem with his rally car, although he was running stronger valve springs, cams, and a raised limiter. Sucks!
Well done for sorting it so fast. Make sure you borrow/buy the correct timing tools for the rebuild or it'll be down on power when it's back together.

Unlucky mate,i could be another case!Picked the car up on sunday,was due to go in for an aux belt tomorrow,but the belt sheared today,in the garage now,possible valve damage if the timings slipped,if the valves bent i dont have the money to fix the car,we find out tomorrow what the damage is!
