got pulled yday by the cops - near Leeds Bradford airport - bout 6 squad cars and one of those vans with the two cameras out of the back doors....

n e way - i reckon i have lost my licence - i have 3 points from nov 99 from speeding, my tax expired at end of jan, which i was gonna do at the end of this month, but ive just found out my insurance was to be renwed in Jan - and it hasnt been - am i gonna get banned, or worse? (sh1tting it big time)

Just gave me a producer, said they would inform the DVLA bout the tax, and i would have to pay to backdate, but not much else really, just have 7 days which i have to produce my licence, m.o.t (which i have) and insurance certificate which is now out of date....but i didnt say anything to them at the time about it..

1. tell the truth

2. hope you have a friend who can issue you with a cover note from that date (thats a tad against the law)

I got stopped for no tax and insurance.. again it was a completly honest oversight on my part.. and I pled guilty to it.

The judge accepted my plea of an honest mistake but still gave me 7 points !! IN10 and a £100 fine.. b**ch...

I had a clean license with no points ever up to that point.. the coppers were kind enough to let me off for not wearing a seatbelt though.. and they said that I wanst really allowed to drive my car anymore cause it wasnt insured but said that they were gonna drive off and head in the oppisite direction *wink* *wink* *knudge* *knude* but If I was to get stopped again they couldnt help me. Soon as I got into work I arranged insurance.

and the IN10 is on your license for 4 years.. ye I know its my fault for not paying attention more, but I got insurance for my car the same day. still the IN10 comes off soon.. as it was years ago that I got it.

One this is dont worry about the road tax.. I doubt you will loose your license if you plea guily and make a case that you need your car.

£780 FC

Without the IN10 I would be about 650 odd fully comp.

if they do decide to do anythin then at least you will show that you did actually intend on sortin it out, if you leave it then they wont believe you

I have a mate whos been catch without tax on a number of occations, and the worst shes had is fines, I think the last one was about £300, but no points for that.

Insurance is worst, but she also had that when she was out of tax, and it went to court, and I think she got 3 or 6 points plus a small fine, so plead guilty and make sure they know you mean it, plead that you need your vehicle for your livelyhood and you hopefully will come away still driving.

get the insurance to send an immediate cover note, along with the other documents, take your producer down with everythin u need, and if they spot the dates on it all then just own up and be honest about it all

if you try an hide from it they will get you anywayz and it will look bad

The max you can have on you licence at any one time is 11 points, I personally would use mitigating circumstances and say i have had some problems, BLAH BLAH and it was an oversight on your part, get insurance ASAP. The one bad thing about the law is they kane the common man and the crooks allways seem to get away with it. The max they can give you is 6 points for no insurance, so dont be too hasty in selling your car, as it may not come to it.

i heard max was 6 points also mate. a couple of years ago i got done for driving without license and insurance and its a min of 3 and max of 6 for each. i got 3 for both though cos my lawyer blagged it.

says 6-8 points for an IN10 which would be right as I said I got 7.

actually they stay on your license for 4 years.. but as far as the toting process goes they are only on for 3 years.. so you technically have a clean license.. result mate.. at least thats somthing in your favour.

The bit about no tax.

All i know is that if you get caught in the West Mids with no tax then you cannot move the car full stop. You get caught in a sh*tty area with no tax then thats where your car stays until its sorted.

Seems strange that its different up north.

Just rung Tescos about some insurance and they say the points only stay on for 3 years, but they ask for any within the last 5.....so think ur right...

I got pulled and had no tax or MOT. Got the MOT done the same day and then got TAX straigh after it. The horty was just a check and not a record so they let me away with the MOT and i never heard anything about the tax.

i drove a mates car some years back and got pulled by the police (i was in a business park at midnight-ish looking for offices to rent - must have looked very suspicious). I had to do the producer thing and while i was at the station the officer studied my insurance policy and said that i wasnt covered to drive other cars (i honestly thought i was). I was shocked. Anyway, mr nice PC said look, just be more careful in future and he let me off. Be polite to an officer and youll be amazed at what theyll turn a blind eye to.

Well got insured yesterday through liverpoolvictoria.co.uk (thankx BRUN) - they are well cheap - £917 fully comp and a years no claims on a 16v....

just gotta do the producer when the ins. certificate comes through and c what appens.....thankx for all your responses tho...stopped me worrying as much..
