Got the better half insured on my 182..

Have i just made a huge mistake? gave her a quick shot last night, and i just knew she would keep hassling me for another go, so thought it would be safer having her as a named driver.. anyone else made this mistake? lol

thats what i was thinking, she didnt take it above 2krpm!! dont think its ever been treated like that before!! ha ha

  Vectra :(
I got mine insured on my 172 a few months ago....insurance went down by £200. A nice saving and also easier to get her to pick me up from the pub as driving the 172 has to be better than a 1.1 corsa :dapprove:

  silver cup packed FF 182
ive been insured on my g/f's brand new fiesta zetec-s but thats not as good as my new 182 tho lol.....doubt id get her insured on it as it'd be toooo quick lol

  Mk 2 Ph 2 1.2 16v
Insured the girlfriend on mine as it dropped my premium by £200. Will never let her drive it though, lol

  A4 Avant & A3
insured my mrs on mine from the beginning.. she relies on a car for work, so guess what happens when her 'older' pug is off the road!!! yup she drives mine :-(

I also made the mistake of buying a 'cup' with climate, she is now saying that we ought to swap cars in this hot weather, as i leave it in my work carpark all day & she's all hot in her non-airconned car. (bugger)

And to top it off... just been signed off work & not supposed to drive, Guess who thinks it'd be a good idea to use mine daily!

Put mine on the insurance, lowers the premium and she's only just passed!

I've found that she's realised how obsessive I am with the car and so is behaving herself so far, and it means I can drink on the weekends more!

Once the novelty wears off it'll be me that drives it when I want to anyway.

peoples who's insurance has gone down with putting the misses on, who you insured with?

  182 has now gone!
My boyfriend is insured on my 182 but I never let him drive it, think it cost about another £30 for the year.. I only did it cause I am insured on his car (and it cost him more to have me on his insurance!)

I'm with Admiral, it's cheaper having her on it (22, just passed) than it is with me on my own, added my mum or my dad... weird!

yup its absolutely stupid imo.. for me to be insured on a 172 at 19 with 0 yrs no claims etc, it reduces the policy by £300..just doesnt make sense

  182 - Now Cooper S
Its fine for her to drive it, but i gaurantee the front left wheel gets kurbed. And that is always a shi*a. Fair play to get the insurance down though, can she park well? thats the question....

Good luck!

i let the mrs drive my car last night.

she stalled twice, and when she did get going she found it hard to use the pedals. She's used to her 1.2 fiesta Finesse, driving for 3 years.

Dont think i'll be letting her drive it again! lol

mine is insured on mine, but she would rather drive her mini, fair play to her, dont realy bother me as it brings the insurance down even though she is only 18

3 different guys have driven mine, at the end of the day it's just a car, no big deal.

Thats true but I guess it depends how much pride you take in your car. I'm not suggesting you dont of course, but my biggest worry is kerbs. I'm seriously anal about keeping my alloys in showroom condition, and I apperciate that most other people arent so worried hence why I'm nervous of other people driving it.

Especially birds ;) Most women I know kerb alloys for fun.

The parking thing is a bit of a cliche I think. I've found my parking skills are a bit lame in the sense that I dont often attempt to street park in medium gaps. That's BECAUSE I am so scared of kerbing my alloys though. I've found most of girlfriends have been better at this than me, but when you look at the state of their f**king chewed up wheels, you know why :D

While we're having a light hearted non-serious sexist driving discussion - why do women reverse into parking spaces at supermarkets and then return to their car scratching their heads wondering how the f**k they are going to get the shopping from the trolley, resting on their front bumper, into the car, without removing the windscreen and/or wrecking the car parked next to them? WTF is that all about? The next thing you'll want to see when you leave Tescos is the boot of your car, not the f**king bonnet! LOL ;)

Very funny, they always have to take about an Hour to reverse in causeing about 10 miles of traffic jams in the process and then they park so much over they cant hardly get out, better not say no more other wise all the girls on here will want to linch us Lol

Nah it's all fair game dude. Just a bit of fun. In my experience girls who cant get involved in a bit of sexist banter like this without getting a strop on, are usually lesbians. In which case why would we care? :D

I won't let anyone drive mine, man or women. My other half has been nagging me recently as his car is off the road, but I'm tight and won't let him or anyone else drive the Valver. I don't think I'm scared of people crashing it, more scared of things breaking that neither him or me can afford to replace at the moment!

I have to admit with you guys that I feel safer in the car with ANY lad mate than I do in the car with my girl mates... most of them can't drive for s**t. I like to think I'm on a minority where I'm not afraid to take the car above 3k and can use my mirrors even whilst reversing!!! Oh the shock!!!
