GT5 Vs. Forza 3

Not the usual silly arguments, an in-depth comparison from people that have driven several of the cars in reality. Interesting read.

General conclusion seems to be that Forza is more fun, and obviously destroys GT in terms of modifying etc. GT has the better more realistic physics model.

I think this sums it up nicely
Forza is what you play with your friends when hanging out; GT5 is what you attempt to master in solitude—and what makes you end up throwing the controller across the room, because it’s more difficult than it looks.

I have a 360 so obviously play Forza. I like Forza as its more fun to play and the customization/modding you can do it endless which i love. Engine conversions ftw!

I think the only thing i like GT5 for more is the used car market, i think thats something they should incorporate into forza in some way or another when 4 comes out next year. Also the sheer amount of cars on it is frigging EPIC. Other modes wouldnt go amiss too like rally which i know GT5 has.

I own both now, and I pretty much agree with that summary you posted.

Not read the article yet, but Forza is definitely more fun for pick up and play, but GT5 definitely feels more real, and a good long session can equal forza's fun.

In forza you can easily see your opponents car and power as opposed to GT, filtering cars when buying is better in forza, menu structure and the game structure is better on forza, both games have pap online modes. I dont like not being able to buy any car from GT5 too.

I think what put me off with Forza is the slight arcade feel to the handling. Jumping in an M3 and drifting it with ease is fun, but it's too easy. In my own opinion.

i own forza3 but have had a play on gt5.. the game itself seems very good and i love the used car market but the thing i dont like is how unrealistic the cars feel , they all seem to drive and handle the same. now whether thats just because im used to forza and havnt had much experience on gt5.. but for now il stick with forza

Though comparisons were pointless (or words to that effect) to quote a comment you made in the GT5 thread ;)
Repetitive bullshit from fanboy's in one thread is. A decent balanced review is interesting. No-one's given one yet ;).

I'll await inside sim racings review/comparison. They didn't seem to feel Forza was arcade in feel. Tbh they seem to get the balance right, high powered old or usdm rwd cars tend to twitch or oversteer on even moderate throttle, newer or European high powered rwd cars have a tendency to understeer when pressing on slightly before submitting to oversteer as you overcook it properly.

I found some odd anomalies in GT's model even in the relatively short play I had. Excessive pendulum effect, an odd handling lotus etc. To me it had more obvious inconsistencies than Forza's physics but of course I'm a fanboy rather than someone who's bought each incarnation of both series ;)

Fair enough. But that's the second time I've read experienced motoring journalists say that the handling and feel reflects the real life car. But then I'm sure within each of the physics models there are cars that work well and those that don't (the Elise feels crap in gt5).

For a quick post pub 2player game, I'd rather play forza. Had a good time racing le sarthe, drunk with Naith a few weeks back. But I wouldn't play forza as much on my own.

Yes read that earlier, seems the most balanced review of each product so far and I agree with its findings.

I played Forza 3 for the first time since buying GT5 and found myself disappointed with the graphics, in comparison to GT5 they are over colourful and arcade looking. I was playing with a pad and the car handling physics were not as good as GT5 with a wheel but this is probably a unfair comparison. I do not have a wheel that works with F3.

Seems like a balanced review but "With the GTI, you simply get somewhere close to your braking marks, turn in, and the car zips around the corner under throttle" I really disagree here (imo obviously). Did they use pads for both games as I imagine it being much easier to hold a slide with a pad being able to pretty much instantly go from lock to lock.

I use a wheel on forza 3 so it makes it abit better, gt5 is good but takes some time to get used to when playing it. Cars just seem abit cardboard on gt5 like wit forza if you are pinning a corner you can feel the car on the edge of it's grip but with gt5 the car just goes with no warning or feedback at all.
