GTechniq C5 Wheel Sealant

There are always going to be discussions and reviews about new products, but I think this one deserves a thread in the detailing community on this site.

"The ease of use, the gloss it gave my wheels and the long durability claims have got me very excited about this product. The gloss really did shock me, its made such a difference, i didnt even think it was possible before today. I am looking forward to seeing how it copes with the winter and if the gloss fades over time. I will continue to update the thread monthly as i test the durability. I will be washing the wheels weekly with only PH neutral shampoo to see how long it lasts."

Really want to use this once I've sorted out my wheels.

You'd think with all that arch gap you'd get some sort of cross continental wind blowing it away ;)

Look at that, a wee name change and Alex gets all cocky ;) Where are all the "S"s Curtissssssss?

Galtek, great stuff by all accounts - I'm in the same position. Waiting for a free weekend so I can do parts of the car as I go. Arches with C4 and wheels with C5 are next on the list! Then engine, then paint.

Oi Cletus, pipe down! ;)

It used for sheltering young Indian people, like Warren.

Time is a valuable commodity mate. :(

I wish I could get it all done in one day but sadly I don't think it's going to be possible.

Got so many new parts to fit aswell to get it back to how I want it.

A day? Shiiiiit. Be surprised if I can get round mine in three straight. Panel a night will be where it's at, that's after a weekend's work on the rest (engine etc).

I just hate doing things by halfs, also mine has just been polished pre- xmas so it's only an enhancement and try out some new products.

Mines is more of a workshop!

JD has heated handrails, a shower and a sauna in his Garage! ;)

  DCi 100
Is that the butlers garage?

As JD has an olympic size swimming pool, a casino and a medium sized vineyard in his personal garage.

Do rate the Gtechniqs stuff, still to try out the polish hoping itll sort out the state that is the R's paint !!

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
I got there little starter kit with the P1 polish and C2 liquid crystal which they claim after applied you can water it down and use as a detailing spray to top it up. Hoping to attack the Mrs golf with it in the next couple of weeks. All by hand though so no DA results.

Id say the only detailing sprays thats ever kept up with c2 is the aquartz reload and so far the v7 suprisingly (little project breaking out). All are GOOD s**t!!!

this stuff looks really good. Could I use this on top of/as well as FK1000p?

I've got some of that glass cleaner as well, but yet to use it.

I would say you're best off starting fresh, so the C5 has a good base to start with. I think it's strong enough on it's own without the use of FK1000p on top.

Could be wrong though

Yeah, from that thread I got the impression its best to start from a fresh layer of paint. As it was cut back first then applied.

Wonder if this will help mine...The Brake dust off the brakes on mine is TERRIBLE. XP8's dust like a fucker!

Should do mate, just get them spotless before you apply it.

As long as you keep on top of them after application, they should only take a bit of aggitation to remove any dirt.

You haven't seen how much brake dust XP8's kick off!

Corrosive as f**k. Wheels are already well protected with Poorboys etc and ideally needs reapplication once a month. Never seen anything like it!

P1'd my Clio by hand and was dripping with sweat coz of how much effort it is, good luck on the golf!

If the wheels are really bad and brake dust is baked on, try IronX first and also some old clay if you have any around from previous claying

No no no your not understanding...The wheels are fine, protected and clayed. It's how the XP's dust...it slowly breaks down anything I have ever put on these wheels. The old Clio ones were fine but on the EVO....nightmare. ITs the compund used in the brakes themselves. Add to that big Brembo calipers = a lot of highly corrosive brake dust.

Its a known issue with these types of brakes, they dust like a motherfucker and slowly brake down the protection on the wheels. Add to that salt in the road at this time of year and when it rains the dust kicks kick around everywhere = a right messy mess!
