guys and galls need you advice on my next move!!!



hiya everyone i have been mulling over what to do to the car etc etc so i called the guys at abp motorsport for some advise as i have used them in the past alot with my saxos etc... what they said:

induction kit - go for at basic a k&n induction kit or a typhoon kit or his
recommendation a ken 2 kit..he said the typhoon looks the best but the gen 2 performs better he said the viper and carbon kits get such minimal gains it is pointless spending this much on them..the viper he said does not get hardly any improvement from the 2.0 engine??? prima seem to like green induction kits as do bb so which is the better induction kit to get for a good price any links and prices would be great

suspension - i am wanting springs cos i cant afford the full shocks etc etc he suggested pi springs that lower the 25f 15r he wants to charge me 99 for the set but i am worried that the car will look od lower at the front compared to rear what does everyone else think....i ideally want a 40mm drop all the way round and want to know which are the better springs to get etc... are there any adverse problems from lowering this low i.e camber adjustment needed to save on tyres etc etc...front and rear strut braces i wont these to compliment the springs so which are the ones to get and are they easy to fit with my saxo the power steering res had to be moved so i dont wont really to be messing around etc

exhausts - they strongly recommend magnex as the best systems i wont the 6 x 4 oval a) will look to big b) is he true will i get a nice sound but good performance gains with this system...what abut alternatives for the money i used to be a big fan of janspeed systems...what does everyone think i am also wanting the manifold worked on to get to 182 spec who does this and how much....decat i would love one but i dont want the engine managment light coming on which decats prevent this from happening with the lamb sensors etc etc

chip - i want the car chipped and abp can do it fully set up for 277 all in which i think is a good price i should get this done after all the rest is that right

anything else that people would think is a good buy??

As far as springs go,apex will drop your car approx 40mm and are a pretty decent spring for the price,or there is the Eibach sportlines which drop 30mm approx,not heard of anyone with PI springs so can't comment but a lot of people like the apex/eibach springs.
Decat i would very much recommend along with a viper and then remap it to see the full effects of both. I've seen the magnex on a 172 and the pipe just looks too big and doesn't sit right at all IMHO.
You could always uprate the brakes aswell.

Eibach Pro Springs, small drop, but better quality.
Magnex or Prospeed exhaust - Magnex for off the shelf deep burbly sound, pro speed for total customisation
Proper carbon induction kit, ITG, viper, BMC CDA
Chip - fully customised SMT6 etc

All that and you might see a few bhp added. Most of the stuff they've recommend you buy is their best selling entry level stuff. Decent car requires decent kit.
 
cheer guys that is a great help i have made one decision i am going for apex springs 40mm all round!!! will i have any problems with tyre wear with this drop cos on my old dynamique i have 17's with a 40 mm drop and the camper was all out so the inner tyre was shot to f**k i have 195 50 15 on my car will i have any problems in that respect........

are the carbon jobbies really worth the extra pennies!!! think i am going to have an ascar stainless steel full system with the pro speed/sport tailpipe like welsh172 but into the bumper with surround (are ascar any good they recommended by maxpower and did the pimp my ride uk thing))

cheers mate thanks for at anyone else got any opinions on the above want the suspension sorting first as priority and need to know about omp strut braces are they easy to fit many thanks again
